ArcGIS ribbon user interface

The functionality of ArcGIS for AutoCAD is accessed primarily through the ArcGIS ribbon.

Ribbon layout

The commands on the ribbon are grouped by the type of functionality you are performing, such as managing your GIS project, adding GIS content, or editing features.

The following ribbon commands are described in the sections below:

Main ribbon

The commands on the main ribbon are described in the following table:

Options to set and manage the coordinate system of the drawing.

2Locate

Display the Locate pane to navigate the drawing by address or place-name.

3Esri Maps

Quick access to add Esri map layers useful as basemaps.

4Project Area

Set the project area to limit the geographic extent of feature layer features added to the drawing using various options.

5Add Data

Add new or existing GIS layers to the drawing using various methods.

6Contents

Open the Esri Contents pane.

7Import Schema

Import document feature class definitions from existing DWG files.

8New Feature Layer

Add document feature layers using various options.

9Identify Features

View and edit attributes of selected features with the Attribute Editor user interface.

10Synchronize

Synchronize web feature layer edits with their web service sources by opening the Synchronize User interface.

11Discard Edits

Discards all web feature layer edits and refresh features from their web service sources.

12Share

Opens the Share as Hosted Feature Layer user interface to share document feature layers.

13Get Started icon

Opens the ArcGIS for AutoCAD Resources online web site.

14Help icon

Opens this help system user interface.

15What's New icon

Opens the ArcGIS for AutoCAD Articles online web site.

16About icon

Opens the ArcGIS for AutoCAD About window.

Coordinate System menu

The commands on the main ribbon are described in the following table:

Displays the existing Esri coordinate system in a window as a Well-Known Text (WKT) string.
