Set the project area

Set the project area to define the spatial limit for web feature layer features added to your drawing. Only features that are within the user-defined project area are drawn. You can set the project area to the current view or by defining an area.

Set to the current view

To set the project area to the extent of your current view, complete the following steps:

  1. Navigate your drawing to an area where you want features displayed.
  2. On the ribbon, click the Project Area menu button Set Project Area in the Project section.
  3. Click the Set From View menu option to set the project area boundary to the extent of the current view.

Set to a defined area

To set the project area to an area you define, complete the following steps:

  1. On the ribbon, click the Project Area menu button drop-down arrow and select Set From Area.
  2. Draw a rectangular area in your drawing that you want as the project area.

Note:
The project area can be redefined at any time. Changes to the project area take effect after the next synchronization of web feature layers. When adding features to a feature layer that are geographically outside the extent of the project area, those features are added to the feature layer, but may not reappear when redrawn because they are outside the project area.
