Add data user interface

The Add Data dialog box, accessible from the ArcGIS ribbon or the Esri_AddData command, allows you to add and create data.

The Add Data button on the ArcGIS ribbon allows you to add data with the dialog box . The Add Data by URL option allows you to enter the URL path to any supported ArcGIS web layer. The Add Web Feature Layer by URL option allows you to display a layer's sublayers for individual selection.

The primary Add Data dialog box has two main tabs: Add and Create. The Add tab allows you to search for and add content from various sources. The Create tab allows you to create GIS data from available templates.

Add tab

The following options are provided on the Add tab to allow you to search for and add content from various sources:

	Text search box to limit items in the gallery by search string
	Filter options to limit the view of items in the gallery by type or geographic location
	Sort options for items in the gallery (Newest, Oldest, Most Viewed, Title)
	Next and previous arrows to navigate pages of the gallery
	Item details pane to display details of the selected item in the gallery
	Limits the view of items in the gallery to the ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World section of the current portal
	Limits the view of items in the gallery to the Esri maps section of the current portal
	Expands the view of items in the gallery to all content shared with everyone in the selected portal
	Limits the view of items in the gallery to content created by the current user
	Limits the view of items in the gallery to those designated as a favorite by the current user
	Limits the view of items in the gallery to content shared within the organization of the current user
	Limits the view of items in the gallery to those shared with groups the current user is a member of
	Adds the selected item to the drawing
	Scroll bar to navigate the current page of the item gallery
	Button to designate an item as a favorite that appears in the favorites gallery of the current user
	Click the tile to open a preview window of the layer before adding to the drawing. The view extent is based on the drawing's project area.

Create tab

The Create tab allows you to access to the gallery of feature layer template files that you can select to add document feature layer definitions and predefined layer symbology, and point symbology such as applied blocks to your drawing, as well as other methods to create document feature layers.
