Esri Contents user interface

The Esri Contents pane provides interfaces to manage the Esri GIS contents in an ArcGIS for AutoCAD drawing.

Esri Contents pane

ElementDescription
1

Esri GIS layer type category headers with context menus that act on all listed layers: Map and Imagery Layers, Web Feature Layers, and Document Feature Layers.

2

Layer names are listed within their layer types with context menus and action buttons that act on the single layer and sublayers.

3

Action buttons that act on the specific layer.

4

Sublayers of maps or subtype layers of feature layers with context menus that act upon the sublayer.

5

Context menus provide context specific actions for each of the entries within the Esri Contents pane including category headers, layers, sublayers, and subtypes.

Quick Action buttons

When the layer entry within a layer category type is expanded, a collection of action buttons are exposed for that layer. These buttons perform layer-specific actions, much like the context menus. The buttons are provided as a quick access to the layer specific tools. Each action button includes a ToolTip that is displayed when you hover over the button. These action buttons include the following:

Action button iconDescriptionLayer types
Dynamic update

Change dynamic behavior between automatically filling the current ArcGIS for AutoCAD view extent with the map or image layer or only redrawing to fill the view when requested.

Map and imagery layers

redraw

Redraw Layer redraws map or image layer to fill the current ArcGIS for AutoCAD view extent.

Map and imagery layers

transparency

Transparency shows the map or image layer transparency user interface.

Map and imagery layers

information

Identify Map, depending on the data capabilities of the publish map or image layer, will prompt for a rectangular area selection on the map and show the Map Identify user interface, which displays the attribute values of the selected features within a map or imagery layer.

Map and imagery layers

Zoom to layer

Zoom to Layer Extents sets the ArcGIS for AutoCAD view extents to the spatial extent of the published map or imagery layer.

Map and imagery layers

Properties

Properties shows the Feature Layer Properties user interface for feature layers. Web feature layer properties are read-only. It opens the workstation's default web browser with a URL to the item properties or web service rest endpoint properties page of map and imagery layers.

Map and imagery layers

Web feature layers

Document feature layers

Create

Create Feature Invokes the createFeature option of the Esri_FeatureLayer command for the current editable feature layer. This is not enabled for feature layers that have complex definition queries where the potential created feature is not well defined. The current default symbol will be used for point feature layers.

Web feature layers

Document feature layers

Table

Attribute Table shows the attribute table user interface with the selected features of this feature layer.

Web feature layers

Document feature layers

Identify

Identify Features allows you to select ArcGIS for AutoCAD entities that will be filtered to only display the attributes of features that belong to the current feature layer in the Attribute Editor user interface. Unlike the Identify Features tool on the ribbon, this tool filters the entities to only include those from the current feature layer.

Web feature layers

Document feature layers

Synchronize

Synchronize shows the synchronize user interface for the feature layer. Use the Discard Edits context menu option to refresh the web layer from the server without changes.

Web feature layers

Extract

Extract Document Feature Layer demotes the existing web feature layer and its entities to a document feature layer within the drawing. Any included subtypes will be retained, as well as attribute linked text and block symbol assignments.

Web feature layers
