Import coordinate system

Esri coordinate system definition from a PRJ file or DWG file.

Set the coordinate system using an Esri projection file (.prj) or an AutoCAD drawing file (.dwg) that contains an Esri coordinate system.

  1. At a command line, type -Esri_COORDINATESYSTEM.
  2. Choose the Set option. At the command line, enter the WKID or the path to the file.

Note:

ArcGIS for AutoCAD requires its own coordinate system information separate from any AutoCAD coordinate system or geolocation information.

AutoCAD or Civil 3D Geodata definition

Set the coordinate system using the ESPG number of an existing AutoCAD geodata definition.

  1. On the main ArcGIS ribbon, in the Project group, under the Coordinate System expandable button, select the Assign option.
  2. On the Esri Coordinate System Selector user interface, choose the Import Geodata coordinate system option from the import coordinate system definition expandable button.

Set the coordinate system using the ESPG number of an existing AutoCAD geodata definition.

  1. At a command line, type -Esri_COORDINATESYSTEM.
  2. Choose the Import option. The existing ESPG number will be used to set the Esri Coordinate System definition.
