Dam safety authorities share operating manuals with dam owners and use them to encourage common maintenance responsibilities. But dams need to be inspected continuously to ensure they are well maintained. While many dam safety authorities maintain a centralized database of historical dam information, they struggle to accurately access the current condition of these dams. Streamlining inspection programs ensures dams are routinely inspected and safety issues identified before an incident occurs.
