The Catch Basin and Outlet Inspections solution delivers a set of capabilities that help conduct routine catch basin and outlet inspections, understand asset conditions, record inspections in the field, and ensure that the entire organization has access to inspection information.

Catch basins and outlets are critical assets in a stormwater system. Routine inspection and maintenance of these assets are necessary to assess their condition and to comply with regulatory mandates.
Perform an outlet inspection in the field
Mobile workers routinely inspect catch basins and outlets to ensure that they are working properly to allow stormwater to flow as the system was designed, to provide a record of their inspections, and to inform maintenance needs.
In this workflow, you will assume the role of a mobile worker who has been assigned the task of inspecting an outlet in the field.
- Download ArcGIS Field Maps onto your mobile device.
- Open ArcGIS Field Maps and sign in to your ArcGIS organization.
- Open the Catch Basin and Outlet Inspections Field Editor map.
- Tap the outlet on the map which is being inspected.
A pop-up appears showing outlet attribute details.
- On the bottom, click on the related records button. Alternatively, scroll down in the pop -up to the RELATED section and click the related records icon.
- Click Add.
- Complete the inspection form as appropriate.
- When you are finished, at the upper right, tap the check mark or Submit.
Note:
Your interface may vary depending on the type of mobile device that you use.
- Repeat steps 4 through 8 to conduct additional inspections.
Perform catch basin inspection in the web
Stormwater managers may have historic records of inspections. Adding historic records of inspections can help stormwater managers understand past inspection patterns and asset conditions.
In this workflow, you will assume the role of a stormwater manager who has information about an inspection done in the past on a catch basin that needs to be added to the system.
- In a browser, sign in to your ArcGIS organization and browse to the Catch Basin and Outlet Inspections Center app.
- From the item page, click View.
- Find the catch basin. Use the Search bar to identify by asset ID or an address in the area. Optionally, zoom and pan around the map.
- On the left panel, click the Edit asset/Add inspection tab.
- Under Edit features, click the Select button.
- Click on the catch basin in the map.
- In the pop-up, under Inspection results, click Add record.
- Complete the Catch basin inspection form and click Create.
Monitor inspections
Monitoring the progress of inspections allows staff to evaluate the best use of resources for their organization and provide the most reliability to their customers.
In this workflow, you will assume the role of a stormwater manager who wants to evaluate the current progress of catch basin and outlet inspections.
- In a browser, sign in to your ArcGIS organization and browse to the Catch Basin and Outlet Inspections Center app.
- From the item page, click View.
- Click the Catch Basin Inspections Dashboard or the Outlet Inspections Dashboard tab.
- Explore information about inspections.
- On the left, in the filter panel, use filters to explore Inspected dates, who conducted the inspection, and the asset's overall condition.
- To view the details of an inspection, click on an inspection in the Inspections (newest first) table.
Inspection details will be visible below and the map will zoom and flash the appropriate asset.
- On the map, on the top right, click More tools to expand the list.
Additional buttons appear.
- Click Legend.
The legend appears to help understand the map symbology.
