The Sidebar template includes a set of tools and options that appear in a side panel next to the map. You can include essential map tools for exploring the map and bookmarks to zoom to specific regions. Provide editing tools so users can add and update features in the map. Data requirements
The Sidebar app has no specific data requirements. To use the Oriented imagery tool, the web app must have an oriented imagery layer.
App capabilities
The following list includes key settings and capabilities that you can configure for this app:
- Cover page—Include a cover page with custom text and logos to establish the purpose of the app.
- Layer list—Display a list of layers with options to turn visibility off and on in the map or scene. This setting also allows opening a layer's attribute table, which includes an option for users to export their records as a .csv file.
- Bookmarks—Allow users to zoom and pan to a collection of preset extents that are saved in the map.
- Pop-up—Present pop-up content, including related records and clustered pop-ups in the side panel of the app rather than in the map. Turn on the Classic panel toggle button to use the classic pop-up display, which does not display related records or clustered pop-ups.
- Edit tools—Provide options to add and update features in editable layers. Users can turn on snapping for more efficient and precise editing.
- Oriented imagery—Allow app users to interact with and visualize oriented imagery, or imagery that's taken from any angle, from a web map. App users can click a location on the map and interact with the images surrounding that location using tools in the panel. The tool displays best using a large panel.
- Utility network trace—Trace how resources flow through a utility network. This tool requires that the web map include a utility network service and named trace configurations (supported at ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9 and later). For services published at 11.1 or earlier, the ArcGIS Utility Network user type extension is required.
- Details—Display the description content from the source map's item details in the side panel of the app.
- Attribute filter—Configure map filter options that are available to app users.
- Basemap gallery—Display a collection of basemaps in the side panel that users can add to the map. Use the Esri default set or choose a basemap group to offer app users.
- Language switcher—Provide translations for custom text and create a multilingual app.
- Hover pop-ups—Provide users quick access to attribute information that appears when hovering over a feature in the map.
- Find current location button—Detect the user's physical location and zoom to it on the map. This option only works using HTTPS protocol.
- Measurement tools—Provide tools that measure distance and area and find and convert coordinates.
- Basemap toggle—Change the look of the map by switching to a different basemap.
- Screenshot—Capture an image from the app that a user can save.
- Export—Print or export the search results as a .pdf file that includes the pop-up content of returned features and an option to include the map.
All Instant Apps templates include settings for a Home button and zoom controls, a legend, and the ability to search the map or data.
