Streamflow Viewer

ArcGIS Online    |

The ArcGIS Instant Apps Streamflow Viewer template allows app viewers fast visualization to explore streamflow forecasts. This template includes the GEOGLOWS Streamflow Model map service, which is a multiday river forecast from the European Centre for Medium-range Weather Forecasting (ECMWF), with streamflow reported in three-hour time intervals. This template also includes the United States National Water Model, a forecast model for river streamflow across the contiguous United States from NOAA's National Water Prediction Service. Both services are updated once daily. Template viewers can interact with a chart showing the return period flow for a specific stream segment and animate changes in forecast data for each stream segment using the time slider.

Choose this template to create an app for use cases such as the following examples:

App capabilities

The following list includes key settings and capabilities that you can configure to create an app with this template:

  • Basemap toggle—Change the look of the map by switching to a different basemap.
  • Disable scroll—Prevent the map from zooming when app users scroll. Disable scrolling in the map if the app will be used primarily on a mobile device or embedded in a website.
  • Navigation boundary—Restrict map navigation to a particular region and zoom scale to maintain focus on key map areas. You can also rotate the map or prevent map rotation.
  • Filter options—Set up filters on the stream layer that filter streams that are in or end in specified countries. You can also filter the stream layer by a specified stream order value (the relative size of streams).

All Instant Apps templates include settings for a Home button and zoom controls, a legend, and the capability to search the map or data.
