In Save , you can create new scenes or make copies of existing scenes and save them as web scene items in My content. To start, ensure that you have the privilege to create, update, and delete content. (If you don't have this privilege, you can still view scenes, but you can't edit or save them.)
When you save scenes, you can save all the elements you added to them, including layer configurations and slides. You can also share the scenes and layers with others in your organization or with everyone (public). By default, the scenes you save are not shared with anyone else.
Save a new scene
Create a scene and save it in My content. You can also make a copy of a scene, make changes, and save it as a new scene.
To save a scene, do the following:
- Verify you are signed in to your account and open Scene Viewer.
Scene Viewer appears.
- Click New scene
.
- Author your scene.
A blue dot on the Save button
indicates that there are unsaved changes in the scene.
- When you are ready to save, click Save on the Designer toolbar to open the Save scene dialog box.
Under Thumbnail, there is a preview of the current view of the scene.
- When you are saving a new scene, whether it's the first time or saving a copy of an existing scene, follow the steps below:
- In the Title text box, provide a name for the scene.
- In the Summary text box, provide a brief summary of the scene.
- In the Tags text box, provide terms that will help others find the scene.
All scenes are saved in My content.
Note:
If you are a member of a group that allows group members to update all items in the group (item update capability), you can save the scene to that group.
When you save a new scene or make a copy of a scene, the Save as new scene option is selected by default and cannot be deselected.
To save a copy of a scene that is owned by another user, the owner of the scene must have checked the Allow others to save a copy of this item check box under Save as on the Settings tab of the web scene item page.
- Click Save.
A confirmation Web Scene saved message appears. The scene is saved with the current view and a web scene item is created with the thumbnail.
Click View item details or the name of the new scene link at the top of the scene to open the new web scene item page.
Modify a scene
You can modify a scene and save the updates, such as changing configurations, adding new content, or adjusting layer settings.
- Verify that you are signed in to your account.
- Open the scene in Scene Viewer.
To open a scene, do any of the following:
- Locate the scene under the Content tab, and click the Options button
next to the web scene item, and choose Open in Scene Viewer.

- Open the scene directly in Scene Viewer from a provided web link.
Scene Viewer appears and displays the web scene.
- Locate the scene under the Content tab, and click the Options button
- Make the necessary changes.
- On the Designer toolbar, click Save
to open the Save scene dialog box.
- Optionally, click Refresh
to update the web scene item thumbnail to capture the current view.
- To save the changes to the scene, leave Save as new scene unchecked. Otherwise, check the Save as new scene check box to save the changes to a new scene.
- Click Save
.
A confirmation Web Scene saved message appears.
