Esri_FeatureLayer

The Esri_FeatureLayer command allows you to manage the selected feature layer or all feature layers. Not all options are available if you select all feature layers.

If there is more than one feature layer in the drawing, you are prompted to provide the index number of the feature layer that you want to work with or zero to select all feature layers.

Command options

You are prompted with a list of options. The underlined letter in each listed option acts as a shortcut key to select that option as follows:

  • aTtachments | Enter T to show the view attachments user interface for the selected feature layer.
  • Attributes | Enter A to show the attribute table user interface for the selected feature layer. Entities selected in the current drawing will also be selected in the table.

  • createFeature | Enter F to show the appropriate AutoCAD command to create a feature on the appropriate AutoCAD layer with the correct geometric type. Closed polyline or hatches are created for polygons, and the insert command is shown with the appropriate block for point feature classes when a block symbol has been associated with the point feature layer. It is not enabled for feature layers that have complex definition queries when the potential created feature is not defined.
  • Current | (Web feature layer only) Enter C to set the current AutoCAD layer to match the layer defined for this web feature layer.
  • Discard | (Web feature layer only) Enter D to discard any pending edits to this feature layer, refreshing from the source.
  • eXtract | (Web feature layer only) Enter X to convert this feature layer to a document feature layer, disconnecting it from any reference to the source service.
  • Generate-sublayers | (Web feature layers when subtype layers are not present) Enter G to be prompted with a list of fields on which to define subtype layers.
  • Label | Enter L to choose labels when one or more features are selected. An association is created between the entity attribute value and a text entity. The attribute value and the text entity stay in sync. This option includes the following suboptions:
    • Pick | Enter P to show the Esri_PickLabel command for the feature layer.
    • Synchronize | Enter S to force any label values to be written to the entity to confirm that all entity attribute values match the associated text values.
    • Remove | Enter R after selecting labeled entities; it removes any association between the entity attribute value and the text entity.
  • lOcked | (Web feature layers only) Enter O to set the web feature layer's locked editing property (read-only). This option includes the following sub-options:
    • True | Enter T to disable editing of this feature layer in the current drawing.
    • False | Enter F to enable editing of this feature layer in the current drawing if it supports editing.
  • manaGe-sublayers | (If sublayers present) Enter G to have the option to clear the sublayers, which will delete existing sublayers and move all features to the parent layer. This does not result in any modifications to the feature geometries or attributes. You can continue to edit, sync, and discard edits of features in the drawing.
  • Properties| Enter P to open the Feature Layer Property user interface.
  • Related-data| Enter R, and select a feature. A dialog window appears displaying any related records. Editing is allowed if the feature layer permits it.
  • reMove | Enter M to remove the current feature layer from the drawing. If this is a web feature layer, the entities will be removed, but the associated AutoCAD layer will remains If this is a document feature layer, the entities are not removed.
  • Rename | (Document feature layer only) Enter R to rename the current feature layer with the user-provided value.
  • Select | Enter S to select all the entities included in this feature layer.
  • sublaYers | Enter Y to select all the entities included in this feature layer. Instead of interacting with the specified feature layers, limit the command options to interact only with the sublayer. After selecting the subtype layer, the options include the following: Attributes, Block, Current, Identify, and Zoom. The behavior of these commands is the same as defined in this topic.
  • symBol (For point, multipoint, or polygon feature layers)| Enter B to show the symbol suboptions as follows:
    • Assign | Enter A to show the Assign Default Symbol user interface.
    • Redraw | Enter R to redraw each of the selected features of the feature layer using the current default symbol setting.
  • syNchronize | (Web feature layer only) Enter N to synchronize any pending edits to this web feature layer and refresh with the most current content from the associated service. If there are no pending edits, it refreshes the features. When drawings contain proxy objects on an AutoCAD layer that is being used as a web feature layer, the synchronize function may fail with the "Unable to synchronize or discard edits when proxy elements present" message. This can happen when a drawing was created using ArcGIS for AutoCAD in Civil 3D but is now being edited in ArcGIS for AutoCAD using standard AutoCAD. To ensure proper synchronization, it is a best practice to synchronize Civil 3D drawings using ArcGIS for AutoCAD in Civil 3D.

  • Zoom | Enter Z to zoom to the extent that includes all the entities contained in the feature layer.
