This article provides information about the updates made to Esri Demographics and ArcGIS Places data in October 2025:

Data product name change

Esri updated the product name from Esri Location Data to ArcGIS Data.

Standard demographics

Note:

In October 2025, Esri redefined the Consumer Spending variables CS13-CS16 and the related definitions and subcategories. Note that while some definitions may appear unchanged, the types of expenditures included in the variable have been updated. Because of this change, a comparison with the previous release is not possible. This change affects only datasets from countries or regions in this release that include Consumer Spending data: Ghana, Mauritius, Mexico, Réunion, South Africa, and Tunisia. Esri updated the standard demographics datasets for the following North American countries or regions: Anguilla, Aruba, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Greenland, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique, Mexico, Montserrat, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Esri made the following changes to the Canadian datasets:

  • Canadian geography levels and related essential vocabulary terminology were updated for 2025. Related attribute summaries were updated for Environics Analytics.
  • Settlement points were updated to fall within dissemination areas.

  • DaytimePop—Release date: October 2025; vintage 2025.
  • DemoStats—Release date: October 2025; vintage 2020, 2025, 2028, 2030, and 2035. Refinements in this release include updates to total population estimates, improved immigration projections, and revised labor force figures that align unemployment rates with recent trends.
  • DemoStats Trends—Release date October 2025; vintage 2025.
  • HouseholdSpend—Release date October 2025; vintage 2025. Added 139 new spending (2025) attributes; removed 179 spending (2024) attributes.
  • PRIZM®—Release date: October 2025; vintage 2025.
    • Renamed from PRIZM® Market Segmentation.
    • Seven segments were reassigned to new lifestage groups, impacting 40 percent of postal codes and 33 percent of Canadian households.
      • 34—Familles Typiques: from group F3 to F1
      • 35—Vie Dynamique: from group M1 to M2
      • 43—Happy Medium: from group F3 to M1
      • 46—Patrimoine Rustique: from group M1 to M2
      • 51—On Their Own Again: from group M2 to M1
      • 63—Amants de la Nature: from group M1 to M2
      • 65—Âgés & Traditionnels: from group M2 to M1
    • The most stable segments are Banlieues Tranquilles, Enclaves Multiethniques, and Indigenous Families. Conversely, Amants de la Nature, Âgés & Traditionnels, and Asian Avenues experienced the most geographic shifts. Social Networkers, Suburban Recliners, and Banlieues Tranquilles are the fastest-growing segments, while Enclaves Multiethniques, Diversité Nouvelle, and Down to Earth saw the largest declines.

  • Release date October 2025; vintages 2025 to 2011 (various).

In early 2026, Esri will discontinue support for the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) based Business Summaries. North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) based Business Summaries will continue to be supported.

Esri India

  • Release date October 2025; vintage 2025.
  • More than 5 million new records were added to the Indian ArcGIS Places dataset, raising the overall attribute count to approximately 15 million, a 50 percent increase since the previous release in May 2024.
  • The overall attribute extent was increased to more rural locations.
  • New attributes were added for government, education, residential, places of worship, and tourism.
  • 51 new categories were added to support these additional records.

Foursquare

  • Release date October 2025; vintage August 2025.
  • 36.2 million records were added to or updated in this global dataset, a 16.3 percent increase since the previous release in April 2025.

SafeGraph

  • Release date October 2025; vintage August 2025.
  • More than 100,000 new records were added to the Canadian Points of Interest dataset, raising the total attribute count to 1.1 million, a 9 percent increase since the previous release in March 2025.
  • More than 125,000 new records were added to the Puerto Rican Points of Interest dataset, raising the total attribute count to 135,000 locations, a 1,110 percent increase since the previous release in March 2025.
  • Approximately 1 million new records were added to the U.S. Points of Interest dataset, raising the total attribute count to more than 18.8 million, a 6 percent increase since the previous release in March 2025.
