ArcGIS Solutions align with your business needs, transform your use of ArcGIS, and help you maximize your investment in location-based data and technology. They leverage the power of ArcGIS and your authoritative data to help you improve operations, gain new insight, and enhance services.
Deploy an ArcGIS Solution
Several flexible deployment options reduce the time it takes to deploy geo-enabled solutions in your organization, increase the business impact they make, and are fully supported. Get ArcGIS Solutions up and running quickly in your ArcGIS Online organization or deploy them with ArcGIS Enterprise on infrastructure you manage behind your firewall.
ArcGIS Online organizations
The ArcGIS Solutions app can be used to deploy a solution in your ArcGIS Online organization. This application is accessible in the app launcher when you sign in to your organization. To deploy an ArcGIS Solution, you must have a Creator or GIS Professional user type.
To deploy an ArcGIS Solution, complete the following steps:
- Sign in to your ArcGIS Online organization.
- Click the Apps button in the header of the site and click Solutions.
- Browse the gallery of ArcGIS Solutions by industry or search for a keyword.
- Hover over a solution and click View Details to learn more about it. When you decide to deploy a solution, click Get Now.
Tip:You can deploy one or more solutions at the same time. Each solution is accessible on the My Solutions tab when it finishes deploying.
- Once deployment is complete, hover over the solution and click Open.
The ArcGIS Solutions app creates all the ArcGIS items included with the solution and places them in a new folder in your content. The app also creates a solution item that summarizes the content included and shows the relationship between items.
ArcGIS Enterprise (10.5–10.8.1) organizations
The ArcGIS Solutions Deployment Tool can be used to deploy an ArcGIS Solution in your ArcGIS Enterprise 10.5 through 10.8.1 organization. It is an ArcGIS Pro add-in that allows you to browse a catalog of ArcGIS Solutions and deploy them to an ArcGIS Enterprise organization. To deploy an ArcGIS Solution, you must have a Creator or GIS Professional user type or must be a level 2 member for versions earlier than 10.7.
Caution:The current version of the ArcGIS Solutions Deployment add-In is 2020.7.28 and it is supported with ArcGIS Pro 2.4 through 2.6 (Basic, Standard, or Advanced). Ensure you have the most recent version of the add-in installed before proceeding.
To install the ArcGIS Solutions Deployment add-in, complete the following steps:
- Download the ArcGIS Solutions Deployment ArcGIS Pro.zip file.
- Close before installing the add-in.
- Browse to the folder to which you downloaded the .zip file and extract its contents.
- Double-click SolutionDeployment.esriAddInX to run the installer.
- Click Install Add-In.
- After installation is complete, click OK.
To deploy an ArcGIS Solution, complete the following steps:
- Start ArcGIS Pro and create or open a project.
- On the Share tab, in the Deploy group, click ArcGIS Solutions.
- Double-click Sign in to ArcGIS organization in the Tasks pane and click the Finish button.
Note:ArcGIS Solutions are deployed in your active portal.
- Double-click Deploy an ArcGIS Solution in the Tasks pane. Select one or more ArcGIS Solutions and click Deploy. Once deployment is complete, click the green check mark next to the solution to review it in your ArcGIS organization.
- Click the Finish button.
The ArcGIS Solutions Deployment Tool add-in creates all the ArcGIS items included with the solution and places them in a folder you designate in your content.
Configure an ArcGIS Solution
ArcGIS Solutions provide industry-specific configurations for ArcGIS that are designed to meet key business requirements and support common workflows in your organization. Each solution generally includes one or more applications, surveys, maps, feature layers, and ArcGIS Pro projects that can be configured to meet your needs.
After deploying an ArcGIS Solution, review it with stakeholders in your organization. Define any specific configurations you would like to make to meet specific needs in your organization. Keep in mind that major changes to the solution may impact your ability to quickly leverage future releases of each solution.
Tip:Any required configurations will be documented in the Configure topic for each solution. To make required configurations, you must be the item owner.
ArcGIS Solutions leverage many of the configurable applications (for example, ArcGIS Dashboards, configurable application templates, ArcGIS Web AppBuilder) provided with ArcGIS. If you need to configure an application to support your specific needs, browse to the item in your ArcGIS organization and click Edit Application.
Many ArcGIS Solutions include survey forms designed to capture information from internal and external stakeholders. Review the preconfigured questions and adjust as necessary. If you need to configure a survey form to support your specific needs, browse to the item in your ArcGIS organization and click Manage in Survey123 website.
Note:Surveys published using Survey123 Connect can be configured by clicking Edit in Survey123 Connect.
The maps provided with each ArcGIS Solution reflect specific cartographic design requirements and include the appropriate layers and pop-up configuration. If you need to configure a map (add or alter style, modify pop-up, configure ArcGIS Arcade expressions, and so on) to support your specific needs, browse to the item in your ArcGIS organization, and click Open in Map Viewer.
The feature layer or layers provided with each solution reflect specific business requirements and support the maps or applications in each solution. If you need to configure a feature layer (add or alter fields, domains, and so on) to support your specific needs, browse to the item in your ArcGIS organization, and click the Data tab.
Caution:If the ArcGIS Solution includes feature layer views, new fields must be first added to the underlying feature layers and then exposed in the appropriate views. Additionally, some views are created by joining two sources together, and these views must be re-created with the same name and URL after a new field is added.
ArcGIS Pro projects
In some cases, an ArcGIS Solution may include an ArcGIS Pro project (maps, layers, geodatabase, tools, tasks, and so on) that can be used to manage authoritative data or conduct an analytical workflow. If you need to configure a project to support your specific needs, browse to the item in your ArcGIS organization and click Download. Extract the .zip file, if necessary, and open the project in ArcGIS Pro.
Choose a spatial reference
Choosing the appropriate spatial reference is an important step before deploying your solution. The spatial reference you specify will be applied to the deployed feature services included in the solution and cannot be changed once deployed.
If you want to specify a different spatial reference, you can type the name of the projected coordinate system (PCS), or you can use a Well Known Identifier (WIK). WIK is a unique series of numbers which identify a projected coordinated system.
Why do you need to change the spatial reference? If you plan to collect data with a high degree of accuracy, you want to ensure that the projection you use maintains distance and is localized to your geographic region to avoid distortion.
