Create a call to action

The Follow card adds a button to a site or page that can be configured with a call to action, such as Get updates, Learn more, or Get involved. By selecting the button, a person is added to the site's followers group so that members of site edit groups can share content with those who've followed the site. For example, surveys are useful for gauging follower's interests, so that site editors can customize communications and content.

You can add call to action buttons throughout the site and promote public sites through your organization's home page and social media. People can find and follow public sites by searching hub.arcgis.com.

The Follow card requires a subscription to ArcGIS Hub Premium. To follow an initiative, a person must have an ArcGIS Online account or a community account.

Configure a follow button

Members of site edit groups can use a Follow card to add a follow button to a site or page.

To configure a follow button, complete the following steps:

  1. Open a site or page in edit mode.
  2. On the Customize panel, select Layout.
  3. Drag a Follow card onto a row in the layout.
  4. Provide context for the call to action in the Call-to-Action field and optionally, set an alignment for the Alignment field.
  5. For Follow button, optionally, change the button text from Follow and Unfollow to a call to action of your choosing (for example, Learn more or Sign up). Optionally, set an alignment for the Alignment field or a button style for the Button style field.

The follow button uses the Body link color and Body background color to ensure that buttons are accessible to all types of users.

  6. Select Save layout.

Use a button

You can add a button to a site or page and include a link to a survey, page, or external resource. Buttons do not have corresponding groups, so you can't use a button to manage followers as you can with a Follow card.

Manage the followers group

Site editors in Hub Premium organizations can manage a site followers group from the site workspace on the Followers pane. If needed, you can create a followers group. Site editors can also manage the followers group from its group workspace.
