Renaming districts

Esri Redistricting allows you to change the district label for district assignments. Using this method, you can type a new name for the district as free text. The underlying geography remains with its current assignment.

1. On the View ribbon, click Modify Districts.

   The Modify Districts dialog box appears.

2. Click to select the district name you want to change.

   You can modify both the long name and short name for the districts. The short name is visible on the map when you check the Shorten Names check box on the Create ribbon. See Modifying the appearance of district plans.

3. Type a new name in the text field.
4. Repeat steps 3-4 as needed.
5. Click OK.

   The district labels update on the map.
