Advanced demographics

Esri updated the following advanced demographics datasets:

Puerto Rico	Puerto Rican updates include the following: Geography levels—Esri added the following new geography levels: State Legislative District (Upper Chamber) State Legislative District (Lower Chamber) Public Use Microdata Area (PUMA) H3 Hexagon Grid—Resolution 2 H3 Hexagon Grid—Resolution 3 H3 Hexagon Grid—Resolution 4 H3 Hexagon Grid—Resolution 5 H3 Hexagon Grid—Resolution 6 H3 Hexagon Grid—Resolution 7 American Community Survey—Updates include the following: Release date: June 2025; vintage: 2019-2023 (rolling estimates). Number of new attributes: 72 Housing. Number of updated attributes: 39 variables moved from the block group to the census tract level and are available only for mapping. ArcGIS Tapestry is a completely rebuilt system with significant updates that reflect current demographics, neighborhood characteristics, and community lifestyles. The previous version, Esri Tapestry Segmentation, is deprecated and will not be supported after June 2026. The ArcGIS Tapestry dataset introduces reconfigured segments and LifeMode groups, expanded data documentation, and an updated selection of data visualization products. Note: For U.S. Tapestry data earlier than the June 2025 update, see the Esri Tapestry Segmentation topic. Esri Updated Demographics—Updates include the following: Release date: June 2025; vintage: 2025/2030. Number of new attributes: 145. The distribution of current-year estimates and five-year projections for the following attributes has changed: Contract Rent has expanded from 12 to 24 intervals; Home Values has expanded from 13 to 26 intervals; Households by Income categories have expanded from 9 to 20 intervals and the former highest interval of $200,000 or more has been subdivided into five categories, adding a new top interval that includes households earning $500,000 or more. The Housing Affordability Index has been enhanced to include home insurance costs. Esri Urbanicity—Updates include the following: Release date: June 2025; vintage: 2025 Number of new attributes (vintage 2025): 2 Dominant Urbanicity; 12 Urbanicity Land area. Esri Consumer Spending—Updates include the following: Release date: June 2025; vintage: 2025/2030. Number of new attributes: 215. Number of revised or renamed attributes: 30. Attributes no longer available (vintage 2024/2029): 671. This release is the first of three phases of significant changes due to a U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics survey redesign and incorporates a higher degree of variable consolidation or removal than typical years. Esri Retail Demand by Industry—Release date: June 2025; vintage: 2025. Esri Market Potential—Updates include the following: Release date: June 2025; vintage: 2025. Number of new attributes: 396. Attributes no longer available (vintage 2024): 82. ArcGIS Places - U.S.—Esri updated the Business Locations, Business Summary, and Points of interest datasets. See the Data Axle and SafeGraph sections in ArcGIS Places below for more information. American Community Survey (ACS)—Updates include the following: Release date: June 2025; vintage: 2019-2023 (rolling estimates). Number of new attributes: 71 Housing. Number of updated attributes: 39 variables were moved from the block group to the census tract level and are available only for mapping. See the Related links section in the American Community Survey topic for more information. The Housing Affordability Index now includes Homeowners Insurance Costs by Mortgage Status. Census 2020 and Census 2010—Updates include the following: Release date: June 2025; vintages: 2020 and 2010. Reconverted 11 Census 2000 variables in 2020 geography. Crime Indexes—Release date: June 2025; vintage: 2024B. Traffic Counts—Release date: June 2025; vintage: 2025. Standard reports— A new report template was added in June 2025. All reports contain the same data, but can be viewed using either the Esri classic template or a new report template.

ArcGIS Places

Esri updated the following ArcGIS Places datasets:

Data Axle	Release date: June 2025; vintage: April 2025. Attributes no longer available: Locator Match Status and Locator Match Rating (used with ArcGIS Pro only). In early 2026, Esri will discontinue support for the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes provided by Data Axle and used in the United States Business Summary dataset.
Foursquare	Release date: June 2025; vintage: April 2025. Esri has incorporated Foursquare Open Source Places into the global ArcGIS Places data. As a result of this change to the source content, some attributes are no longer available in this dataset. See Prior release - February 2025 for more information.
SafeGraph	Release date: June 2025; vintage: March 2025. New attributes: NAICS description; NAICS sector; Location parent. Esri has mapped the 2017 NAICS codes provided by SafeGraph to equivalent 2022 NAICS code values. Refer to the U.S. Census 2022 to 2017 Concordance, the NAICS 2017 to 2022 comparison topic, or downloadable spreadsheet (XLSX) for more information.
