If you have an ArcGIS organizational account or an ArcGIS public account, you can sign in to ArcGIS. Signing in to ArcGIS gives you access to a wide variety of content, such as maps, scenes, apps, and layers from around the globe, and the capabilities you need to create geospatial products.

Note:

Signing in to ArcGIS may be slightly different in some apps and earlier versions of browsers than what is described in this topic. If you encounter issues signing in, see Account troubleshoot.

Some areas of ArcGIS Online require that you enter a case-sensitive username.

Organizational account

Members of an organization who were added to or invited to join an ArcGIS organization can sign in with an ArcGIS organizational account. Depending on how you were invited or added to the organization and your organization’s security settings, you can sign in to an organizational account using your ArcGIS login, organization-specific login, or social login (GitHub, Facebook, Google, or Apple) information.

If you were invited to the organization, your invitation will have your account login information. If you were added automatically with an ArcGIS login, your administrator will give you the account login details.

Public account

If you are not a member of an ArcGIS organization, you can create an ArcGIS public account to create and share content, with limits on usage. You can use your ArcGIS or social (GitHub, Facebook, or Google) login information to create your public account. If you have an Esri account, it is automatically a public account, and you can use it to sign in.

Sign in with an ArcGIS login

Follow these steps to sign in to an ArcGIS organizational account or an ArcGIS public account using an ArcGIS login:

  1. From the website, click the Sign In link at the top of the site, access the sign-in page directly from your organization's URL, or access the sign-in page directly from https://www.arcgis.com/home/signin.html.
  2. If necessary, click ArcGIS login to expand the section.
  3. Type your username exactly as it was spelled when you or your administrator created your account.
  4. Type your password exactly as it was spelled when you or your administrator created your password.

    Your password is case sensitive.

  5. Check the Keep me signed in check box to remain signed in even if you close your browser window.

Clearing your browser cache will sign you out.

If you do not check the box, you will remain signed in until you sign out, close your browser, or clear your browser cache.

    Note:

You will remain signed in for up to two weeks, regardless of the Keep me signed in box being checked.

  6. Click Sign In.
    Note:

You may also be prompted to verify your email address. Verifying that email addresses are valid helps ArcGIS Online users and administrators receive critical information from ArcGIS Online, such as password resets and account changes.

  7. If you have multifactor authentication enabled for your account, enter the six-digit code provided by your authenticator app and click Verify.

If your organization enforces multifactor authentication, you will first need to set up multifactor authentication.

    Tip:

If recovery codes are enabled for your organization and you have printed or downloaded a list of recovery codes from your settings page, you can use the Lost access? Use recovery code option to sign in using one of the codes.

Sign in with an organization-specific login

If your ArcGIS organizational account is configured for organization-specific logins, you can use your existing organization-specific login to sign in.

  1. From the website, click the Sign In link at the top of the site, access the sign-in page directly from your organization's URL, or access the sign-in page directly from https://www.arcgis.com/home/signin.html.
  2. If necessary, click Your ArcGIS organization's URL to expand the section.
  3. Complete your ArcGIS organization's URL.
  4. If you want this URL to be entered automatically the next time you sign in, check the Remember this URL check box.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Click your organization's name.
  7. Type your username exactly as it was spelled when you created your organization-specific account.
  8. Type your password exactly as it was spelled when you created your organization-specific account.
  9. Click Sign In.
  10. Note:

You may also be prompted to verify your email address. Verifying that email addresses are valid helps ArcGIS Online users and administrators receive critical information from ArcGIS Online, such as password resets and account changes.

If you chose to remember the organization's URL, the corresponding organization name will appear by default on the sign-in page the next time you sign in.

    Note:

ArcGIS can remember up to three organizations. Click Enter another organization to add more organizations.

Sign in with a social login

Some organizations allow their members to create an organizational account using a social login. If you chose this option, you can sign in using your GitHub, Facebook, Google, or Apple login. You can also use a social login to sign in to a public account created with this social login.

Note:

When you sign out of ArcGIS Online, you are still signed in to your social network. To sign in to ArcGIS Online with different login information, you first need to sign out of your social network.

  1. From the website, click the Sign In link at the top of the site, access the sign-in page directly from your organization's URL, or access the sign-in page directly from https://www.arcgis.com/home/signin.html.
  2. Click the GitHub, Facebook, Google, or Apple logo.
    Note:

To sign in to ArcGIS, create an ArcGIS public account, or join an ArcGIS organization using an Apple login. You must have multifactor authentication (MFA) enabled on your Apple account.

  3. Provide your GitHub, Facebook, Google, or Apple credentials and sign in.
    Note:

You may also be prompted to verify your email address. Verifying that email addresses are valid helps ArcGIS Online users and administrators receive critical information from ArcGIS Online, such as password resets and account changes.

Switch accounts

If you use multiple accounts for ArcGIS Online and Esri websites, you can link them so you can switch between accounts and share your Esri customer information with My Esri, e-Learning, and Esri Community. You can link your organizational (ArcGIS, organization-specific, and social) and public (ArcGIS and social) accounts. Your content and privileges are unique to each account. From Esri websites, only Esri access-enabled accounts appear in your list of linked accounts.

To set up and use linked accounts, click your username at the top of the site and click Switch Accounts, or click Manage linked accounts on the General tab of your settings page. Choose one of the following options:

  • To add an account, click Link an Account and sign in with the account you want to link.
  • To switch accounts, choose an account, and if necessary, sign in with the credentials for that account.
  • To unlink an account, click Unlink an Account, choose an account, and click Unlink Accounts.

Considerations

Keep the following in mind:

  • Multiple accounts from the same social network or the same organization-specific provider are automatically linked.
  • When switching accounts, you will remain signed in to the current account unless you uncheck the Stay signed in to current account when switching check box before switching. You can remain signed in to one public account at a time, and if you have multiple organizational accounts for the same organization, you can remain signed in to only one of them.
  • To switch accounts, you need to allow pop-ups in your browser.

Verify your username

If you forget your username, you can request an email that lists all the ArcGIS usernames associated with your email address.

Note:

Some areas of ArcGIS Online require that you enter a case-sensitive username.

  1. From the website, click Sign In at the top of the site, access the sign-in page directly from your organization's URL, or access the sign-in page directly from https://www.arcgis.com/home/signin.html.
  2. Click the Forgot username link, type your email address, and click Continue.
  3. You will receive an email with the username or usernames associated with your email address.
    Note:

For ArcGIS accounts you created using a social network login, the username returned in the email is the one ArcGIS assigned for that account. If you need to verify the username you use to sign in directly to your social network account, contact your social network provider.

Reset your password

Esri cannot retrieve your password. You can create a new ArcGIS password from the Forgot password link on the sign-in page. You can also reset your password on your profile page. To reset your organization-specific login password, contact your organization's identity provider. To reset your password for a social login, contact the social network provider.

  1. From the website, click Sign In at the top of the site or access the sign-in page directly from your organization's URL or https://www.arcgis.com/home/signin.html.
  2. Click the Forgot password link, type your username, and click Continue.

ArcGIS Online sends you an email with instructions and a link for resetting your password.

  3. Open the email, click the link provided, and do the following when the Reset Password page loads:
    1. Answer the security question.
    2. Type and confirm a new password.

If you have an ArcGIS organizational account, your password must meet the requirements of your organization. If your organization uses the ArcGIS default policy for passwords or if you have an ArcGIS public account, your password must have at least eight characters and contain at least one letter and one number. Your password is case sensitive and cannot be the same as your username.

      Note:

Weak passwords won't be accepted. A password is considered weak if it's a commonly used password such as password1 or includes repetitive or sequential characters—for example, aaaabbbb or 1234abcd.

    3. Click Change Password.

Sign out

When you are ready to sign out, click your username at the top of the site and click Sign Out. Signing out of ArcGIS Online will also sign you out of all related ArcGIS Online apps from Esri that you have opened in other browser tabs, all esri.com websites such as My Esri, and any training that you are signed in to using your ArcGIS Online account. You will not be signed out of ArcGIS Online apps from third-party providers.

Note:

If you are signed in to multiple linked accounts, you have the option of signing out of all linked accounts at once or signing out of only the current account. After clicking Sign Out in the username drop-down list, click Sign out of all accounts to sign out of all linked accounts, or click Close to sign out of only the current linked account.
