Esri Redistricting has a locking feature. Locking prevents the selected geography from being assigned to a district other than the district to which it is locked. Locking also prevents a geography from being unassigned. All geographies by default are unlocked.
- Click the desired locking option:
- Lock Geography prevents the selected geography from being assigned to a district other than the district to which it is already assigned.
- Unlock Geography allows the geography to be assigned to districts.
- Click the geography on the map that you want to lock/unlock.
Based on whether the Lock Geography or Unlock Geography tool is used, the selected geography is locked/unlocked. On the map, you can see that a locked geography is symbolized with a crosshatch pattern.
