Opening a shared plan

Plans that are shared with a group or with everyone can be opened and viewed. Plans shared within a group can only be opened by group members. However, plans that are shared with everyone can be opened by everyone.

On the Open Plan dialog box, a Shared Plans parent folder organizes your shared plans. A corresponding folder is created for each group of which you are a member and when plans are shared with that group. If no plans have been shared with a group, the group folder will not be listed under Shared Plans. An Everyone folder is also created to organize plans that have been shared to all Esri Redistricting users.

Note:

For shared plans you do not own, you can open the plan; however, the plan is read-only. To modify the plan, you must perform a Save As function to create a copy of the plan to your user account. You can then make updates and share your plan with the group.

  1. Access the Open Plan dialog box:
    • On the File ribbon, click Open.
    • On the toolbar, click Open Open button
  2. On the Open Plan dialog box, browse to Shared Plans.

The Open Plan dialog box displays all plans that are shared. Shared plans may be limited to groups of which you are a member, or plans that are shared to everyone.

    Tip:

When a plan is shared to you, the Status column indicates whether the plan is Read Only. You can also view the Owner column to display the owner of the plan.

  3. Click to highlight the plan you want to open.
  4. Click Open.

If the plan is read-only, you will see the Read Only status on the Open Plan dialog box.
