What's new in Esri Demographics

Information about what's new in Esri Demographics is provided below.

The November 2024 release includes updates to Standard Demographics and Advanced Demographics. For details about what was updated for each country, see Change log - November 2024. For details about updates made in an earlier release, see the change log for that release.

Standard Demographics

This release includes updates to Esri Standard Demographics datasets sourced from data supplied by Michael Bauer Research GmbH.

Europe

The European Cross-border Data (Beta) is a new single dataset that includes comparable attributes for 39 countries sourced from data supplied by Michael Bauer Research GmbH. Note that this is a beta capability, and the boundaries and data are subject to change.

Oceania

Australia, Fiji, French Polynesia, New Caledonia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea have been updated (vintage update from 2021 to 2024; 2023 for Unemployed Persons).

South America

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela have been updated (vintage update from 2021 to 2024; 2023 for Unemployed Persons).

Advanced Demographics

This release includes updates to Advanced Demographics for Canada, India, and the United States, and deprecation for the Netherlands.

Canada

The Esri Advanced Demographics dataset for Canada, sourced from data supplied by Environics Analytics, has been updated to vintage 2024. Updates include 23 new attributes; 116 attributes no longer available.

Netherlands—Deprecation update

In November 2024, Esri discontinued the Advanced Demographics dataset sourced from data supplied by 4orange for the Netherlands. For this region, the Esri Standard Demographics dataset sourced from data supplied by Michael Bauer Research GmbH remains available.

India

The Esri Advanced Demographics dataset for India, sourced from data supplied by Esri India, has been updated with a new Geography level, Wards, new projected population estimates, and one new attribute: Total Projected Population GHSL (Global Human Settlement Layer).

Puerto Rico

A school district geographic boundary from TIGER 2023 was added for Puerto Rico. However, as Puerto Rico has one school district, it does not appear in the geographic scale in ArcGIS products. United States

Esri 2024 U.S. Demographics are available for 14 geographic levels including all standard Census geographic levels (states, counties, census tracts, and block groups) as well as Core Based Statistical Areas (CBSAs), Designated Market Areas (DMAs), Congressional Districts (CDs), Places, County Subdivisions (CSDs), School Districts, and residential ZIP codes.

School District geographic boundaries

Geographic boundaries for School Districts have been added for the United States, including Elementary, Secondary, and Unified School Districts. School districts are geographic areas designated by local and state officials to organize and manage public education. In many parts of the country, school districts align with place or county boundaries. See the Esri 2024 U.S. Demographics Release Notes (PDF) for more information. Urbanicity Type data

Esri Urbanicity Type data is a land-based classification system that designates every U.S. Census block into one of 10 urbanicity categories. See the Esri 2024 U.S. Demographics Release Notes (PDF) for more information.

Business Summary data

Esri Business Summary—Data vintage is updated to June 2024. There are 14 new NAICS-based business summaries that provide finer granular detail to existing categories.

Traffic Count data

Traffic Counts—Data vintage is updated to Q3 2024.
