Configure Gas As-Builting

Gas As-Builting can be used to rapidly document newly constructed, or abandoned, assets in the field and incorporate that information into a system of record.

In this topic, you'll learn how to configure the Gas As-Builting solution to meet specific needs of your organization.

Tip:

The Gas As-Builting solution is preconfigured to use the same GasSystem and CathodicProtection feature layers as the Gas Distribution Data Management solution. If you intend to use the Gas Distribution Data Management solution as your system of record it is recommended that you first deploy Gas Distribution Data Management and then deploy Gas As-Builting.

Provision users

Included in the Gas As-Builting solution are a few groups designed to help managers organize their members based on the work they do and their privileges.

To add members to the three groups and the workforce project, complete the following steps:

Included with Gas As-Builting are three groups designed to help managers organize their members based on their privileges and their work.

To add members to the groups, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS organization and verify that you have privileges to manage member groups.
  2. Click Groups at the top of the site.
  3. Locate the name of the group and click View details to open the details page.
  4. On the Overview tab, click Invite members.
  5. Check the check box next to the members that you want to add and click Add members to group.
  6. Repeat these steps for each group that you need to add members to.

The provided groups are intended to be utilized by members with the following user types in order to fully use the provided maps and apps:

Add users to an ArcGIS Workforce project

Included with Gas As-Builting is an ArcGIS Workforce project to dispatch as-built project tasks. Users need to be assigned the role of mobile worker within that project in order for them to receive and complete as-built tasks. Users can also be assigned the role of dispatcher to review and assign as-built work.

To add users to the project, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS organization and click the Apps button

  2. From the app launcher, click Workforce to open the app.
  3. Under Projects, hover over the Gas As-Built Assignments project, and click Configure.
  4. Click the Users tab.
  5. From the Organization User drop-down menu, select a user to add to the project.
  6. From the Project Role menu, assign the user either the dispatcher role or mobile worker role.
  7. Click +User.
  8. Repeat the steps above for each mobile worker and dispatcher who needs to perform as-built tasks.

Customize the Division attribute domain

The GasAs-BuiltConstructionProjects feature layer includes a Division field which can be used if your organization has multiple service areas.

Modify the Division field domain by following the steps below:

  1. Open the GasAs-BuiltConstructionProjects feature layer item page.
  2. Click the Data tab.
  3. Click the Fields button and then click the Division field.
  4. Click Edit to the right of the List of Values (Domain) header.
  5. Type your labels and codes then click Save.
