Collaborate with ArcGIS Earth for mobile

Options to share data with ArcGIS Earth between desktop and mobile devices:

Share data with a QR code or app link

ArcGIS Earth supports sharing data with a QR code or app link so that mobile users can easily add data by scanning the QR code or using the app link generated from ArcGIS Earth on desktop, which requires no typing. The purpose of sharing data with a QR code or app link is to bridge the gap between desktop and mobile users, provide a hands-free user experience, and showcase how ArcGIS Earth works across the platform. For more information on how to customize the app link, including supported URL parameters, see the details in App integration.

Data types that you can share with ArcGIS Earth mobile users though a QR code or app link are as follows:

  • Map service
  • Image service
  • Feature service
  • Scene service
  • Web scene

There are many collaboration scenarios in which you would use ArcGIS Earth to share data. For example, share projects with your audience while you're briefing and presenting, or share a demo with stakeholders while you're communicating an idea.

To share data with a QR code or app link with ArcGIS Earth for desktop, follow the steps below:

  1. Right-click the layer in the table of contents and select Properties from the context menu.
  2. In the Data Source section of the Summary tab, click Share Share to generate a QR code and app link.
  3. Click Download Download to save the QR code as an image in the C:\Users\username\Downloads folder.
  4. Click the Copy button next to the link to share data via app link. Mobile users can tap the link to open and load the same data in the ArcGIS Earth on mobile.
