Create drawings

ArcGIS Earth for mobile allows you to draw and share geospatial features including points, lines, and polygons, enriching your spatial data collection and visualization process.

Add and edit drawings

Tap the Toolbox button Toolbox on the home screen, and select the Draw tool Draw. The default tool is Point.

Point

To add a point in ArcGIS Earth, complete the following steps:

  1. Choose the Point template Point at the bottom, move the crosshairs Crosshairs to the desired point location, and tap the Add button Add to draw a point on the scene.
  2. Update the attributes including label name, style, and information in the Attribute panel. Attach pictures to the information by taking a new picture or choosing from the album. Tap the Style button to change the icon, color, and size of the point. Tap the Move button to update the location of the point.
  3. Tap the Remove button Remove to remove the selected point.

Line

To add a line in ArcGIS Earth, complete the following steps:

  1. Choose the Line template Line at the bottom, move the crosshairs Crosshairs, and tap the Add button Add to place the first point on the scene. Move and add two or more points to draw a line.
  2. Tap the Undo button to undo the last point. Tap the Done button to complete drawing the line. Tap the My Location button to fly to the current location.
  3. Update the attributes including label name, style, and information in the Attribute panel. Attach pictures to the information by taking a new picture or choosing from the album. Tap the Style button to change the color and weight of the line.
  4. Tap the Remove button Remove to remove the selected line.

Polygon

To add a polygon in ArcGIS Earth, complete the following steps:

  1. Choose the Polygon template Polygon at the bottom, move the crosshairs Crosshairs, and tap the Add button Add to place the first vertex on the scene. Move and add three or more vertices to draw a polygon.
  2. Tap the Undo button to undo the last vertex. Tap the Done button to complete drawing the polygon. Tap the My Location button to fly to the current location.
  3. Update the attributes including label name, style, and information in the Attribute panel. Attach pictures to the information by taking a new picture or choosing from the album. Tap the Style button to change the fill color and transparency and the stroke color and weight.
  4. Tap the Remove button Remove to remove the selected polygon.

Identify drawings

To identify and edit drawings, complete the following steps:

  1. From the home screen, tap to identify an existing drawing.

    A pop-up menu appears for more operations.

  2. Tap Edit to enter edit mode.

    You can update the attributes of the drawing or remove the drawing.

  3. Tap the Share button to save the drawing as a .kmz file.
  4. Tap the Navigation button Navigation to redirect to a third-party navigation app.
Note:

ArcGIS Earth supports getting directions using navigation apps installed on your mobile device, such as ArcGIS Navigator, Google Maps, and Apple Maps.

Share drawings

Drawings are added to and managed on the Drawings tab of the Table of Contents. You can control the visibility of drawing features and delete one or all of them by tapping Delete from the options menu. To share drawings, tap the Share button to package selected drawings into a .kmz file and reveal the sharing options:

  • Tap the Share KMZ button Share KMZ to save the .kmz file as a local file.
  • Tap the Upload button Share KMZ to upload the .kmz file to ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise using a signed-in account.
By adding the .kmz file to ArcGIS Earth on desktop, you can continue editing the drawings from where you left off.
