Perform a quality recording

Assessment with quality recordings

You can use the ArcGIS IPS Setup app to create quality recordings to assess indoor positioning performance in areas where it is suboptimal. Quality recordings can provide insight into ArcGIS IPS performance issues when analyzed using the tools in the IPS Quality Assessment toolset. When creating quality recordings with IPS Setup, the IPS engine uses the Indoor Positioning Data Service to compute your real-time position. The Indoor Positioning Data Service can be used to enable IPS for a map. Quality recordings are stored as attachments in the IPS_Recordings feature class. The Indoor Positioning Data Service must be configured for a web map to enable the creation of quality recordings using IPS Setup. The Quality Recording toggle button is visible at the start of the survey. When enabled, you can create data that is used and analyzed by the quality assessment tools.

Note:

If the Survey Radio Type option is set to Wi-Fi during the quality recordings, Wi-Fi radio signals will be collected.

The process of collecting quality recordings is similar to that of collecting survey recordings. To collect quality recordings using the IPS Setup app, complete the following steps:

  1. Turn on the Quality Recording toggle button.

Quality Recording toggle button on the Survey start screen

  2. Tap Start Recording and perform a quality survey the same way you would perform a survey, confirming survey points with the Confirm Survey Point button as you move along the sketched survey path.
  3. Tap the Upload button to upload the quality recording to the IPS Recordings feature service.
