Perform a quality recording

Assessment with quality recordings

You can create quality recordings to perform quality assessments in areas where indoor positioning performance is suboptimal. Compared to survey recordings, quality recordings contain additional estimated position information that, when analyzed using the tools in the IPS Quality Assessment toolset, can provide insight into IPS performance issues. When creating quality recordings with the ArcGIS IPS Setup app, the active positioning file is used by the IPS engine to compute your real-time position. The positioning file is stored as an attachment in the IPS Positioning table, and the quality recordings are stored as attachments in the IPS Recordings feature class. The positioning file must be included in the web map to create quality recordings using IPS Setup. At the start of the survey, the Quality Recording toggle button is visible. When it's enabled, you can create data that is used and analyzed by the quality assessment tools.

The process of collecting quality recordings is similar to collecting survey recordings. Complete the following steps to collect quality recordings using the IPS Setup app:

  1. Turn on the Quality Recording toggle button.

Quality Recording toggle button on the Survey start screen

  2. Tap Start Recording and perform the quality survey the same way you would perform a survey, confirming survey points with the Confirm Survey Point button as you move along the sketched survey path.
    Note:

When creating a quality recording, more time is required to initialize the IPS engine. Once the quality recording finishes loading, survey the path in the same way you would during a normal survey recording.

  3. Tap the Upload button to upload the quality recording to the IPS Recordings feature service.
