Prior release — April 2025
This article provides information about
the updates made to Esri Demographics and ArcGIS Places data in April 2025.
Standard demographics
Esri updated the following standard demographics datasets for Europe with source data supplied by Michael Bauer Research GmbH:
| Region | Changed content |
|---|
European Cross-border Data (Beta) | - Updated to vintage 2024 (2023 for Unemployed Population).
- New attribute: Unemployed Population (vintage 2023)
- The settlement points have been updated to the 2024 European Commission Global Human Settlement Layer (GHSL) raster points. This data is newer and more detailed than the previous Esri raster-based data and could result in changes to previously run values in some trade areas. Settlement points are used in data apportionment to redistribute data variables to input polygon features.
- Consumer Spending data for 2024 shows high deviations compared to the previous year due to high inflation in almost all European countries and significant volatility of the raw data from the official statistical offices in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
- For reasons of data privacy, in areas with few regional inhabitants, all data except Population and Households numbers are anonymized. In these areas, variables simultaneously referring to currency and population are based on the national average; all other variables are set to zero.
