Locking geographies to a district

Locking prevents a selected geography from being assigned to a district other than the district to which it is locked.

  1. Click the desired locking option:
    • Lock Geography Lock Geography button prevents the selected geography from being assigned to a district other than the district to which it is already assigned.
    • Unlock GeographyUnlock Geography button enables the geography to be assigned to districts.
  2. Click the geography on the map that you want to lock or unlock.

    Based on the Lock Geography Lock Geography button or Unlock Geography Unlock Geography button tool used, the selected geography is locked or unlocked. On the map, you can see that a locked geography is symbolized with a crosshatched pattern.

You can change the district symbology, which allows you to modify the colors for each district. See Changing district symbology for more information.
