Esri Redistricting allows you to create district plans and monitor the impact of demographics to districts as geographies are assigned to them. You can limit district statistics to show only demographics relevant to your task.
For example, if your goal is to define voting districts, you may want to ensure equitable representation of Hispanics, Asians, Blacks, and White Non-Hispanics in each of your proposed districts. However, suppose the majority population in your geography is Hispanics and White Non-Hispanics. You can limit the demographic statistics to show only the information relevant to your task; in this case, you can limit the display to show statistics for Hispanics and White Non-Hispanics only.
For more information on demographic values, see Understanding demographic variables. Here, you will find a table that lists the different demographic values you will see in the application and a description for each.
- On the Create ribbon, click Demographics.
The Demographics dialog box appears.
- Change the demographics displayed:
Check to display the selected demographic and statistics option. Uncheck to hide the display.
- Sum displays a total count of the selected demographic per geography.
- Percent displays the percent of the selected demographic in the geography.
The District Window dialog box updates dynamically based on the assignment and demographics.
