The feed configuration settings and management capabilities are available when you open an existing feed in ArcGIS Velocity. This includes the ability to edit, clone (make a copy), share, delete, as well as start and stop a feed. You can add a feed to a new real-time analytic or open it in a map viewer to visualize the data on a map. Additionally, you can view other feed information from the Logs and Metrics pages.
Edit a feed
To edit a feed, click the Edit button on the feed Details page. The feed opens in the configuration wizard. You can update feed connection parameters, resample the incoming data, adjust the schema, update the key fields, and rename the feed.
The process of editing a feed is similar to defining a new feed; however if you proceed past a step without making changes, you don't have to reconfigure the subsequent steps.
Note:
When editing a feed, if you change the connection parameters, Velocity automatically retests the connection and resamples the data. If the new samples derive a schema that is different than the one that is currently configured, you can keep the current schema or overwrite it with the new schema.
If you overwrite the current schema, you may have to reapply your settings in the Identify Key Fields step.
Feed details
The configuration of a feed is displayed on the feed Details page in four sections:
- Feed details—The connection parameters of the feed based on the underlying feed type.
- Format details—The data format and data parsing configuration. This includes, for example, the field separator for delimited data or the root node in the case of JSON data.
- Geometry details—The geometry parameters of the feed. This includes the geometry type, spatial reference (WKID), and construction method.
- Schema details—The list of defined attributes for the feed. This list includes any changes that were made in the configuration wizard such as renaming or deleting fields. It also identifies which fields are used to supply the START_TIME, END_TIME, and TRACK_ID key fields.
Feed logs
The logs for a running feed are available on the Logs page. Common logs include message parsing errors or warnings when incoming data is missing the expected geometry or date and time information.
You can filter logs by level such as Info, Debug, and Error and view them over different time ranges such as the past hour or the past day. Logs for a running item, such as a feed, are available for up to seven days.
Feed metrics
The metrics for a running feed are available on the Metrics page and include current event rate as well as average metrics over time. The current event rate reflects the number of events or messages per second over the last 5 minutes. Metrics that can be averaged over longer time intervals include events per second, attributes per second, and kilobytes per second. These metrics can be displayed over the last hour, day, week, or since last started.
Metrics averaged over time represent values averaged either over that entire period or averaged over the current run time of the feed, whichever is shorter. For example, if metrics are being displayed relative to the last hour and the feed has been running for 27 minutes, the reported metrics are averaged over the 27-minute run time as opposed to the entire hour.
