Share feeds

Feeds created in ArcGIS Velocity can be shared with other users in your organization and to groups. Other users can add shared feeds to web maps, web apps, ArcGIS Pro, and other ArcGIS mapping applications. Additionally, other Velocity users in your organization can create real-time analytics using shared feeds.

Use a shared feed

If a feed is shared, you have several options available for using the shared feed in ArcGIS Velocity and ArcGIS Online.

Add a shared feed to a real-time analytic in ArcGIS Velocity

To add a shared feed when creating a real-time analytic or editing an existing real-time analytic, complete the following steps:

Note:

The feed must be shared by its owner.

  1. As the real-time analytic publisher, choose the Existing feed option when selecting an input feed.
  2. As the real-time analytic publisher, in the content browser, browse to the My Organization page and search for or browse to the shared feed.

Open a shared feed in ArcGIS Online

Feeds can be shared with a group or the organization. When a feed is shared, you can access it in ArcGIS Online by searching, browsing, or viewing group content. You can then use the Open in Velocity option on the item details page to open the feed details page in Velocity.

From the feed details page you can create a real-time analytic that can consume data from the shared feed.

Open a shared feed using a URL

To share a feed with others using a simple URL, complete the following steps as the owner:

  1. Share the feed with the desired sharing level or groups.
  2. Copy the analytic URL, for example, https://velocity.arcgis.com/.../feeds/ad17df68eac14b59a32be61f47047703/details.
  3. Provide the URL to someone you want to access the feed.

They can use the URL to open the feed details page in Velocity.

Considerations and limitations

If a feed is shared with another Velocity user, they can visualize the feed in a web map or other mapping application. If the other user is a member of the same organization and has privileges to publish real-time analytics, they can create an analytic that processes data consumed by the feed.

Only the feed owner can edit, clone, or start a feed. Others who have access to shared feeds can only see a subset of the feed parameters.

Only users in an ArcGIS organization with Velocity enabled can open shared feeds in Velocity. Users must have a sufficient user type and role privileges to work with feeds.

Currently, feeds cannot be shared outside of the ArcGIS Online organization associated with the Velocity subscription.
