Configure validation settings

You can configure the validation settings used by ArcGIS Indoors for AutoCAD to check the active CAD drawing for potential data issues. Validation tools can be accessed from the Validation group on the Indoors tab in ArcGIS Pro. You can use the configuration tools to specify the layers you want to validate, set tolerances for various validation checks, and more.

Import an existing configuration

To save time when preparing multiple CAD floor plans with similar characteristics, you can import the ArcGIS Indoors for AutoCAD extension configuration from a configured CAD drawing file (.dwg) or template (.dwt).

  1. Start Autodesk AutoCAD and open a new or existing project.
  2. Open the CAD drawing where you want to import the configuration.
  3. Select the opened CAD drawing to make it active, if necessary.
  4. On the Indoors ribbon, in the Validation group, click the Configure drop-down arrow and choose Import Configuration.
  5. Select the .dwg or .dwt file that has the Indoors for AutoCAD configuration you want to import.
  6. Click Open.

When you import an Indoors for AutoCAD configuration, missing CAD layer definitions, missing block definitions, and feature layer definitions are also imported. If an existing feature layer has the same name, the prefix old_ is added to the name of the existing layer when the new layer is imported.
