Troubleshoot

Listed below are issues you may encounter when working with ArcGIS Analytics for IoT and some recommended solutions. If you don't find the problem you are looking for, and you are a member of an organization, send your issue to your administrator and request that she or he contact Esri Support.

Application

  • The Analytics for IoT application is not working.
    • If part of an application page is missing, try clearing your browser cache and cookies. This operation can be different in all browsers. In Google Chrome, make sure to clear since the beginning of time and in Mozilla Firefox, clear everything.
  • I cannot login to Analytics for IoT.
    • If you are blocked from logging into the application, it could be that your organization has not yet purchased Analytics for IoT or that the Analytics for IoT system is not yet available. Check with your organization administrator to see if they have received the confirmation email that Analytics for IoT is ready for use.

Creating and starting Analytics for IoT items

  • I cannot create a new feed, real-time analytic, or big data analytic.
    • There are a number of reasons why you may not be able to create new items:
      • You do not have the required privilege to create feeds, real-time analytics, or big data analytics. Your organization administrator can use the steps in Create roles and assign users to assign you to an ArcGIS Online role with the necessary privilege.
      • You may be in admin view working with your organization's content. On any of the feed, real-time analytic, or big data analytic list pages, if you are an organization administrator you have the option to manage your content or the Organization Content. When you are managing your broader organization's content, you can inspect or stop any user's tasks, but you cannot create tasks on the behalf of other users.
      • Your organization's Analytics for IoT subscription may have reached the extent of its capacity. To free up system resources, you can stop other feeds, real-time analytics, or big data analytics that you own, if they do not need to be running. Otherwise, contact your organization administrator to see if additional capacity can be obtained.
      • Your organization's ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Analytics for IoT subscription may be suspended. If your subscription is suspended, items that were already running will continue to run. However, new items cannot be created or started. Contact your organization administrator for more information.
  • I cannot start a feed, real-time analytic, or big data analytic.
    • There are a number of reasons why you might not be able to start items or tasks:
      • You may no longer have the required privilege to create feeds, real-time analytics, or big data analytics. In this case, you still have access to items or tasks created when you have the privilege(s), but you can no longer start these items once they are stopped. Your organization administrator can use the steps in Create roles and assign users to reassign you to an ArcGIS Online role with the requisite privilege(s), or your administrator can move your content to another user to manage going forward.
      • You may be in admin view working with your organization's content. On any of the feed, real-time analytic, or big data analytic list pages, if you are an organization administrator you have the option to manage your content or the Organization Content. When you are managing your broader organization's content, you can inspect or stop any user's tasks, but you cannot start other users' tasks. To start a task that belongs to another user, you must first transfer ownership of the ArcGIS Online item to yourself.
If your subscription is suspended, items that were running will continue to run. However, new items cannot be created or started. Contact your organization administrator for more information.
