An ArcGIS Velocity subscription license can be purchased at one of three levels. Each successive license level adds functionality and processing speed to the previous level.
The following tables summarize the general functionality and supported processing of each license level.
Functional area | Standard | Advanced | Dedicated |
---|---|---|---|
Publish and run feeds | |||
Publish and run real-time analytics | |||
Publish and run once big data analytics | |||
Publish and run scheduled big data analytics | (up to 1) | (up to 5) | |
Scale big data analytics for faster run times |
Processing and storage capability | Standard | Advanced | Dedicated |
---|---|---|---|
Ingestion velocity | up to 25 KB/s | up to 250 KB/s | up to 2500 KB/s and higher* |
Storage capacity | 128 GB | 1 TB* | 3 TB and higher* |
Running feeds and analytics | 10 | 15* | 25 and higher* |
Note:
If an individual feed or total overall feed velocity exceeds the subscription limit, feeds are eventually stopped. Warnings are sent to the user and administrator via logs and email notifications every 10 minutes when subscription rate limits are exceeded, and if the rate exceeds the limit for longer than an hour, the feed will be stopped.
*The Advanced and Dedicated license levels can be augmented with additional item, compute, and storage units to accommodate required data ingestion velocity and run larger numbers of feeds and analytics. Once storage is added, it cannot be removed.
Each license is an annual subscription and must be renewed annually. During the subscription term, the license is active and you receive product updates and technical support.
Standard license
The Standard license is suited for organizations with lower velocities of data and simple use cases. For example, an organization may want to track a fleet of vehicles (such as snow plows or construction vehicles) and monitor deviation from assigned routes or work areas.
With the Standard license, you can track incoming data at velocities of up to 25 KB per second (KB/s). The number of events per second supported will vary based on the size of the incoming messages. Point data (such as GPS tracks) may be able to be accommodated at rates such as 100 events per second. Polygon data tends to be larger in size per message, so would likely be accommodated at rates such as 25 events per second.
In this license level, you can run up to 10 feeds or analytics at the same time, or any combination thereof. For example, you may have one feed ingesting GPS tracks from construction vehicles, another feed of weather data, and one real-time analytic performing geofencing, incident detection, and storing observations of interest to a feature layer. You can then also have various users running up to seven big data analytics at the same time on the ingested data to summarize patterns and trends.
With the Standard license, big data analytics can be run on the small or medium run settings resource allocation plan when run on a schedule. Big data analytics that run once without scheduling can also run on the large resource allocation plan.
Advanced license
The Advanced license is suited for organizations with higher velocities of data and multiple use cases. For example, a port authority can monitor global or regional maritime vessels, port vessels, containers, weather, and many other types of data produced by connected sensors.
With the Advanced license, you can track incoming data at velocities of up to 250 KB/s. Like the Standard license, the number of events per second supported will vary based on the size of your incoming messages. Point data (such as vessel tracks) may be able to be accommodated at rates such as 1,000 events per second. Polygon data tends to be larger in size per message, so would likely be accommodated at rates such as 250 events per second.
In this license level, you can run up to 15 feeds or analytics at the same time, or any combination thereof. For example, you may have multiple feeds ingesting observations from the entities described above (maritime vessels, port vessels, and more), and multiple real-time analytics performing incident detection and alerting for different purposes. You can also run up to five big data analytics on a schedule in the Advanced level, meaning that you can automate pattern analysis of larger volumes of data and produce information products that are always up to date. For details, see Schedule recurring big data analysis.
With the Advanced license, big data analytics can be run on the small or medium run settings resource allocation plan when run on a schedule. Big data analytics that run once without scheduling can also run on the large resource allocation plan.
Processing (or the number of running feeds and analytics) and storage can both be increased with additional units:
Add-on unit type | Description |
---|---|
Item Unit | 5 additional running items (any combination of feeds or analytics) |
Storage Unit | 256 GB Once storage is added, it cannot be removed. |
For additional details, see Compute and storage capacity.
Dedicated license
The Dedicated license is suited for organizations with extremely high velocities of data, multiple use cases, and high volume data analysis requirements. For example, a transportation department can ingest information from connected cars and use it to generate early warnings of roadway issues or traffic patterns, and it can store high volumes of data to mine for trends.
The Dedicated license is a dedicated big data architecture as a service. The base subscription includes sufficient compute and storage to track incoming data at velocities of up to 2,500 KB/s and includes 3 TB for feature and system storage. The included compute accommodates data ingestion rates of up to 10,000 events per second. Compute and storage can both be increased with additional units:
Add-on unit type | Description |
---|---|
Compute Unit | Additional overall compute capacity can be used to support either of the following:
|
Storage Unit | 512 GB Once storage is added, it cannot be removed. |
For more details, see Compute and storage capacity.
With the Dedicated license, big data analytics can be run on any run settings resource allocation plan (small, medium, large, extra large).
In this license level, you can run as many feeds or analytics as the capacity of your dedicated compute deployment allows. This may be in the range of 60 to 100 feeds and analytics on the base Dedicated subscription, and increasing the number of running items can be accommodated by purchasing additional Compute Units to expand the compute capacity. You can also manually scale big data analytics to higher degrees of parallelization in the Dedicated license. This allows you to run pattern analysis of larger volumes of data with shorter run times than in the Advanced or Standard license. For details, read more about run settings when performing big data analysis.
