Detailed information about what changed for Esri Demographics Standard Demographics, Advanced Demographics, and ArcGIS Places data for the February 2023 release is provided below.

Standard Demographics

This release includes updates to Standard Demographics for 21 European countries with data from Michael Bauer Research GmbH. This release represents the 2022 annual release. Read more in the Release Notes.

Europe

The following European countries are updated with new Standard Demographics (vintage updated from 2021 to 2022): Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye, United Kingdom.

Advanced Demographics

This release includes updates to Advanced Demographics for the United States.

United States

American Community Survey (ACS)—Includes the annual release of the U.S. Census Bureau's 5-year estimates for the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The 2017-2021 5-year estimates include 20 new variables on computer and internet usage by school grade.

Crime Indexes—Includes the semi-annual release of Crime Indexes from the 2022B release from Applied Geographic Solutions (AGS). Crime Indexes provide a view of the relative risk of specific crime types. It is not a database of actual crimes, but rather the relative risk in an area compared to the United States in its entirety. The database includes indexes for several categories of personal and property crime

ArcGIS Places

This release includes the following updates and new releases for ArcGIS Places:

  • United States: Quarterly update to ArcGIS Places sourced from Data Axle business locations (Q4 2022) and SafeGraph Places (Q1 2023).
  • Puerto Rico: Quarterly update to ArcGIS Places sourced from SafeGraph Places (Q4 2022).
  • Canada: Quarterly update to ArcGIS Places sourced from Data Axle business locations (Q4 2022) and SafeGraph Places (Q1 2023).
  • Global: Updated global ArcGIS Places based on data sourced from Foursquare (January 2023).
