ArcGIS Data Appliance 2022 includes the following improvements and enhancements:
Note:
What is ArcGIS Data Appliance? provides information about the Data Appliance product options and ArcGIS Data Appliance 2022 content includes a table to help you understand the difference between the services in each product option.
Legacy Collections
For ArcGIS Data Appliance 2022, the collections are reorganized to include Legacy Collections for raster services that are in Mature Support. This is the final update for services on the Legacy Collections. Services that will be updated in future releases are on Collections 1 through 5 depending on the product option. For more information, see the FAQ about raster basemaps entering Mature Support.
Viewshed geoprocessing service tool
A new Viewshed geoprocessing tool is added to the Elevation geoprocessing service. This tool returns polygons of visible areas for a given set of input observation point features on the surface of the Earth.
Esri Vector Basemaps
Esri Vector Basemaps, an additional set of basemaps in vector tile format, is available in WGS84/GCS tiling scheme as well as the existing Web Mercator Auxiliary Sphere projection; it ships separately on a USB flash drive with most product options. There is one new and 34 updated vector map styles. The tile layers included with this product provide wider coverage and more up-to-date content than the raster maps provided on ArcGIS Data Appliance 2022. Vector basemaps can also be customized.
Note:
This feature is not included with the World Basic product option.
OpenStreetMap Vector Basemaps
OpenStreetMap (OSM) Vector Basemaps, an additional set of basemaps in vector tile format, is available in Web Mercator Auxiliary Sphere projection and WGS84/GCS tiling scheme; it ships separately on a USB flash drive with most product options. There is one new and nine updated OSM vector map styles. The content of these maps are built from the OpenStreetMap Daylight Distribution data. The tile layers included with this product provide wider coverage and more up-to-date content than the raster maps provided on ArcGIS Data Appliance 2022. Vector basemaps can also be customized.
Note:
This feature is not included with the World Basic product option.
World Places Locator
The 2022 version of the World Places Locator on the ArcGIS Data Appliance 2022 Reference Content USB flash drive includes updated data, performance enhancements, and improved search capabilities. This locator takes advantage of all the latest data and software updates that are made to the ArcGIS World Geocoding Service.
The default MinimumCandidateScore and MinimumMatchScore have changed since the last release. They are now 70 and 75 respectively. They both used to be 60. This change was part of an effort to reduce the number of false positives in the World Places Locator.
World Imagery
The World Imagery basemap was updated with more recent, higher accuracy, and more detailed imagery.
World Imagery receives updated high-resolution commercially licensed content globally and contributions from the GIS community in select areas. The commercial content is sourced from Maxar's constellation of high-resolution imaging satellites while the community contributions tend to be high-resolution aerial photography. Additional information is available in the World Imagery service description and in the associated metadata layer provided with your source documents.
