Welcome to the ArcGIS Data Appliance setup.
The setup process has been made as smooth as possible so that you are ready to explore the world of basemaps in only a few hours. For the easiest way to deploy, see the New User Quick Start Guide. This guide was included in the box with your data appliance and provides instructions for getting your basemaps and reference maps deployed to ArcGIS Server.
Before you proceed, make sure system requirements are met.
The basic deployment workflow is as follows:
It is recommended that you use the New User Quick Start Guide for setting up your data appliance.
The steps above are described below. For detailed instructions and for help deploying the elevation, analysis, and locator services, use the links below:
- Unpack the components.
- Install the data appliance.
- Cable the data appliance.
- Power on the data appliance.
- Complete systems licensing and activation.
- Apply Windows updates and configure network settings.
- Verify the data collections.
- Create ArcGIS users on the data appliance.
- Create shares for the new data collections.
- Configure the cache directories.
Note:
If you're using the World_Imagery service for World Standard or Advanced or North America Standard or Advanced collections, you must configure the source documents directories.
- Publish the services: Basemap and reference layer services, World Elevation services, elevation analysis geoprocessing services, and World Places Locator service.
Note:
Optionally add ExportTiles functionality to download map tiles from the server for offline use.
