Introduction to Tree Management

Tree Management can be used to inventory publicly owned trees, streamline inspection and maintenance activities, understand conditions, and inform the public.

Publicly owned trees that line streets and dot parks are important assets and must be maintained like streets and sewers. These natural resources provide demonstrative environmental, economic, and social benefits to a community. They also play an increasingly important role in climate resiliency plans as communities attempt to mitigate the impact of extreme weather. The first, and most critical, step a local government must take to manage its urban forest is to create a tree inventory. A local government cannot effectively manage their urban forest and plan improvements unless they know how many publicly owned trees they have and where they are. Tree Management is typically implemented by public works departments, parks departments, and road commissions that want to develop a tree inventory, effectively manage their urban forest, and plan improvements.

The Tree Management solution delivers a set of capabilities that help you inventory publicly owned trees, conduct routine inspection and maintenance assignments, understand tree conditions, and inform the public.
