Target Hazard Analysis can be used to identify properties and buildings that could result in a loss of life, or have a negative impact on the community, if a fire were to occur.
Many fire departments are taking proactive steps to assess risk and mitigate the impact of a fire in their community. The first step in this risk assessment is the identification of buildings or properties that may harm the community if a fire were to occur. Occupancy, size, life safety and economic impact are some of the criteria used to assess the risk of a building or property. Understanding risk can be a time consuming process and reducing the time it takes to conduct an assessment saves fire departments money. It also allows them to evaluate their community on a regular basis and measure the effectiveness of mitigation strategies. Target Hazard Analysis is typically implemented by fire departments that want to understand risk in their community and use the assessment to prioritize preplanning activities, fire inspections and other community risk activities.
The Target Hazard Analysis solution delivers a set of capabilities that help you calculate a hazard score for each building or property and understand where a fire may negatively impact a community.
