Component observers are configured with default settings when a component is registered. The default observer settings can be updated to meet the specific monitoring needs of your organization. Once updated, the settings can be applied to observers across all registered components. You must be assigned the Administrator or Manager role to configure and apply default observer settings.
Tip:
To update observer settings for a group of observers, update their settings on the Monitoring page.
Configure default settings for observers
To configure default settings for observers, complete the following steps:
- Access Monitor if necessary.
The Home page appears.
- Click Administration.
The Administration page appears.
- Click the Observers tab.
The observers page appears with a list of observers sorted by name.
- Optionally, do any or all of the following:
- Click Sort and change the sorting method.
- Click Filter and create a query to filter the list.
- Click Columns and specify the columns to hide or show.
- Position the pointer at the edge of a column's header and drag the column's edge to resize it.
- Click More options
next to an observer and click Edit defaults to configure default settings.
The Edit default observer settings dialog box appears.
- Click the Interval drop-down arrow and choose an interval.
- Optionally, use the Enabled toggle button to enable or disable the observer.
- Click Save.
The default observer settings are saved and applied to newly registered components.
Apply default settings to an observer
To apply default settings to an observer for all registered components, complete the following steps:
- Access Monitor if necessary.
The Home page appears.
- Click Administration.
The Administration page appears.
- Click the Observers tab.
The observers page appears with a list of observers sorted by name.
- Optionally, do any or all of the following:
- Click Sort and change the sorting method.
- Click Filter and create a query to filter the list.
- Click Columns and specify the columns to hide or show.
- Position the pointer at the edge of a column's header and drag the column's edge to resize it.
- Click More options
next to an observer and click Apply to all to apply default settings to observers for all registered components.
The Apply settings to all observers dialog box appears.
- Click Apply.
Caution:
Applying default settings to observers for all registered components cannot be undone.
The default settings are applied to the chosen observer for all registered components.
Apply default settings to multiple observers
To apply default settings to multiple observers for all registered components, complete the following steps:
- Access Monitor if necessary.
The Home page appears.
- Click Administration.
The Administration page appears.
- Click the Observers tab.
The observers page appears with a list of observers sorted by name.
- Optionally, do any or all of the following:
- Click Sort and change the sorting method.
- Click Filter and create a query to filter the list.
- Click Columns and specify the columns to hide or show.
- Position the pointer at the edge of a column's header and drag the column's edge to resize it.
- Check the check box next to the names of the observers for which you want to apply default observer settings.
- Click Apply to all.
The Apply settings to all observers dialog box appears.
- Click Apply.
