Install Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects client-side components

The Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects client application is deployed as an add-on to SAP Dashboards; it allows you display and configure data on an Esri Map component in an SAP BusinessObjects dashboard.

Verify required software

Before you install Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects, the following software components must be installed and properly configured on your system:

Install the client-side components

  1. Save the client installation archive file, em4bobj_client_install.zip, to a temporary location on your system.

    You will use the contents of this archive throughout the installation process.

  2. To install the Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects client, do the following:
    1. Install Adobe AIR 3.7 or later. Visit http://get.adobe.com/air/ to download the installation files. Follow the installation instructions provided with the software.
    2. From the temporary location where you extracted the Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects client components, double-click the EM4BOBJDesigner.air file and follow the installation instructions.
  3. To configure the SAP BusinessObjects server properties, do the following:
    1. In the SAP Dashboards installation directory under \Xcelsius 4.0\assets, create a new subfolder named em4bobj.

      For example, add the directory as follows:

      C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Xcelsius 4.0\assets\em4bobj

    2. From the temporary location where you extracted the Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects client components, copy the em4bobj.properties file to the newly created em4bobj folder.
    3. Using a text editor, open the em4bobj.properties file and modify the server name from localhost to the name of your BusinessObjects Server.

      For example, the default server SAP Server URL is http://localhost:8080.

    4. If your server is running on a port other than 8080, change the port to reflect your SAP BusinessObjects Server configuration; otherwise, leave the port setting at 8080 .
  4. Save the em4bobj.properties file.
  5. To deploy the Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects add-on, do the following:
    1. Start SAP Dashboards and create a new, blank dashboard.
    2. From the SAP Dashboards menu, select File > Manage Add-Ons.

      The Add-On Manager opens, listing the available add-ons.

    3. Click Install Add-On.
    4. From the file browser, browse to the temporary location where you extracted the Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects client components and open the EsriMapsForBOBJ.xlx file.

      The Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects add-on appears in the list of available add-ons.

    5. Click the Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects add-on to select it and click Close.
    6. At the prompt, click Exit to close SAP Dashboards. To save the current dashboard, click Save and Exit.
  6. When you re-open SAP Dashboards, the Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects add-on is available in the Components Browser. You can drag an Esri Map component onto your dashboard canvas and configure it using the component's Properties sheet.
