Deploy the Esri Maps for MicroStrategy visualization plug-in

The Esri Maps for MicroStrategy visualization plug-in allows you to integrate your MicroStrategy business intelligence (BI) data with the ArcGIS platform. In the context of this document, the ArcGIS platform refers to ArcGIS Online (available at arcgis.com) or to an on-premise Portal for ArcGIS (available through a URL specific to your organization).

Esri Maps for MicroStrategy is delivered to you as an ISO image containing two folders: an asp folder for IIS deployments and a jsp folder for all JavaServer Pages deployments. Each of these folders contains a folder namedem4mstr. When deploying to a Windows operating system, use an ISO image mounting program to view the ISO image file as a virtual disk (for example, Virtual CloneDrive). For instructions on mounting the ISO image file on a Linux-based system, see the administration documentation for your operating system.

  1. Copy the asp\em4mstr folder from the ISO image to theMicroStrategy Web plugins folder.

For Active Server Pages (ASP.NET) installations (IIS), this folder is located in your MicroStrategy Web installation directory. The default location is C:\Program Files (x86)\MicroStrategy\Web ASPx\plugins.

For all JavaServer Pages (JSP) web application installations of MicroStrategy Web Universal, copy the jsp/em4mstr folder to the plug-ins folder in the location where the web application server extracted the MicroStrategy war file. For example, when installing for Tomcat web applications, the default directory is Tomcat/webapps/MicroStrategy/plugins/.

  2. Restart your web application server.
  3. From a supported web browser, start MicroStrategy Web.

The Esri Maps for MicroStrategy visualization is now available in MicroStrategy Web as a DHTML widget in documents and as a custom visualization in reports.
