Publish a configured app

After configuring your app, you're ready to publish and share it. The draft version of your app is only visible to you and members in your ArcGIS organization with administrative privileges. To share it with others, you can publish your app from the Instant Apps configuration window.

  1. In the configuration panel, click Publish and click Confirm.

A success message appears when publishing is completed and the Draft badge changes to a Published badge with the date and time you published. The Share window opens, which includes a link to the app, buttons to share the app via social media, an option to embed the app in a website, and the date and time the app was last published.

    Note:

When you publish, a proxy is automatically created for public access to subscriber content in your app. You'll be prompted to authorize any premium content so anonymous users don't need to sign in to access the content if you share the app publicly. Authorizing premium content will consume credits based on the number of times your app is viewed.

    Tip:

Click Launch to open your app and test it in a new window. Click the Views button in the configuration panel to preview and test how the app will work on a mobile device. Choose from portrait and landscape orientation.

  2. If the content used by your app isn't shared, click Change Share Settings in the message that appears in the Share window.
  3. Otherwise, close the Share window and click Exit. When prompted, confirm that you want to exit.

The app's item page opens, where you can provide details and change the share status.

    Tip:

As a best practice, edit the item details to help others discover your app and learn more about it. For example, add a summary, description, thumbnail image, tags, and any necessary terms of use and data attribution.

  4. On the item page, click Share. In the Share window, choose how you want to share the app, and click Save. The content used by your app needs to be shared in the same way as your app, so click Update in the Update sharing window, if applicable.

To provide a direct link to your app, you can copy the app's URL from its item page (from the Overview tab or the Settings tab).

  5. If you need to change the configuration for a published app, click the Configure App button on its item page, or open Instant Apps, click the My Apps tab, and click Configure for the app you want to update.

You can work with a draft until you're ready to republish with updates. Changes that you make in a draft are not reflected in the published app until you click the Publish button again. Publishing the app synchronizes the changes between the draft and published versions.

    Note:

If you make changes to a published app and change your mind, you can revert to the last published version by clicking the Delete Draft button in the configuration panel.
