Share a web map for use in Floor Plan Editor

Available with the ArcGIS Indoors Spaces extension.

To support the visualization of floor plans and floor plan editing workflows, you must prepare a map for Floor Plan Editor and share it as a web map to an ArcGIS Online organization. Sharing a Floor Plan Editor web map to ArcGIS Online requires configuring an ArcGIS organization and sharing the indoor data in a hosted feature service.

Share a Floor Plan Editor web map to ArcGIS Online

You can share the Floor Plan Editor web map to ArcGIS Online to support plan management capabilities.

Note:

Map image layers are not supported in ArcGIS Online.

To share a Floor Plan Editor web map to ArcGIS Online, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to the ArcGIS Online organization in ArcGIS Pro if necessary.
  2. Open the prepared Floor Plan Editor map in ArcGIS Pro.
    Note:

Review the map to ensure that the layers are floor enabled and the map is floor aware before sharing it.

  3. On the Share tab, in the Share As group, click Web Map New Web Map.

The Share As Web Map pane appears.

  4. For Select a Configuration, choose the Copy all data: Editable option.
  5. Choose the appropriate Share with option:
    • Everyone—Share your content with the public. Anyone can access and see it.
    • My Organization—Share your content with all authenticated users in your organization. This option is available when you are signed in with an organizational account.
    • Groups—Share your content with groups to which you belong and their members.
  6. Click the Configuration tab and select the feature layer that contains the layers in the Floor Plan Editor map.
  7. Click Properties, click the Configuration tab, and set the following options:
    • Check the Enable editing and allow editors to: check box.
    • Check the Add, Delete, and Update check boxes.
    • Check the Enable Sync check box.
    • Check the Export Data check box.
    • Check the Preserve editor tracking info check box.
    Caution:

If you added custom fields to the Indoors schema that include 64-bit ObjectID, Big integer, Date only, Time only, or Timestamp offset, you cannot use them with the sync capability, which is necessary for Floor Plan Editor functionality.

Read more about compatibility between field types and the sync capability

  8. Configure the Apply default to features with z-values parameter based on your workflow needs:

If enabled, new levels created in Floor Plan Editor have a default z-value equal to the value provided in the Default z-value when inserting or updating features text box. You can change the z-value of any level after it is created.

If disabled, you must define a z-value for new levels created in Floor Plan Editor.

  9. Click Analyze and fix any errors in the web map.
  10. Click Share to publish the web map.
  11. Browse to the web map in the organization content and ensure that it published correctly.
  12. Click the published feature layer to open the item page, and click the Settings tab.
  13. Under Editing, check the following check boxes:
    • Keep track of changes to the data (add, update, delete features).
    • Keep track of who edited the data (editor name, date and time).

The Enable editing check box should already be checked. Leave the Enable Sync checkbox unchecked.

  14. Under True curves, configure true curve update settings as follows:
    • Check the Allow update of true curves check box to enable editing of true curve features in the feature layer. This will allow true curves to be updated in Floor Plan Editor.
      Note:

True curves updated in Floor Plan Editor will not be preserved. The Javascript API will generalize any updated true curve features.

    • Uncheck the Only allow true curve updates by true curve clients check box.
      Note:

If Only allow true curve updates by true curve clients is checked, then true curve features will not be editable in Floor Plan Editor. They can still be edited in ArcGIS Pro, which is a true curve client

  15. Click Save.

You can create the Floor Plan Editor app, create a floor plan, and make edits to floor plan features in the shared web map.
