Share a web map or scene for Indoor Viewer

Available with the ArcGIS Indoors Maps extension.

The key components of any ArcGIS app are the maps and scenes that provide the spatial experience. You can configure the Indoor Viewer app to use web maps and web scenes shared from ArcGIS Pro. Web maps can contain feature layers or map image layers, and web scenes contain scene services.

Note:

If you created a scene, you must include a web map.

Share the route and closest facility web layers

You can share network and closest facility solvers to enable point-to-point routing and proximity-based sorting of search results. To share your indoor network in Indoor Viewer, you must share the network data and closest facility web layers to your ArcGIS organization on Enterprise.

Note:

You can publish route and closest facility layers to Enterprise only. Sharing to ArcGIS Online is not supported. However, once the network analysis is published, you can share it from Enterprise to ArcGIS Online.

Complete the following steps to share the closest facility solver:

1. Sign in to your Enterprise portal in ArcGIS Pro.
2. Create a map in ArcGIS Pro and add the network dataset for your site.
3. Run the Make Closest Facility Analysis Layer tool to create a closest facility analysis layer.

4. Run the Make Route Analysis Layer tool to create a route analysis layer.
5. Share the analysis layers.
   1. Click the Share tab.
   2. In the Share As group, click Publish Web Layer.
   3. Click the Configuration tab.
   4. Check the Network Analysis check box in the Capabilities section.

   5. Click Analyze and fix any errors.
   6. Click Publish.

You can now use the closest facility service to sort search results by distance.

Share a web map

When sharing, there are several options on the Share tab depending on your environment. A web map shared using Reference registered data results in a web map based on a map image layer. A web map shared using Copy all data results in a feature-layer-based web map. Layers shared using Reference registered data reflect updates made to the enterprise geodatabase from which they are sourced.

Web maps containing a map image layer configuration can only be shared to Enterprise.

Sharing a web map containing map image layers provides better support for symbology scales and advanced cartography, and better performance and scalability. If you share an Indoors web map containing map image layers and it includes feature layers, these layers are moved above the Indoors map image layers in the table of contents of the output web map. If you require more precise control over the drawing order of the map’s contents, consider sharing the web map with feature layers instead of with map image layers. Choose the share configuration that best fits your organization's needs.

Share a web map containing map image layers

To share a web map that contains map image layers, complete the following steps:

1. Ensure that you're connected to your Enterprise portal in ArcGIS Pro.

   Note:

   Sharing map image layers is not supported in ArcGIS Online. However, you can share map image layers on your server or portal and reference them in ArcGIS Online.

2. If the map contains a range slider, ensure that it's disabled.
3. Share a web map containing map image layers.

   For Select a Configuration, choose the Reference registered data: Exploratory option. Layers are shared as noneditable map image layers.

   If you require layers to be editable, such as the Reservations layer, first share them separately using the Reference registered data: Editable option to create a web feature layer in addition to a map image layer. Then add the web feature layers to the map and share it using the Reference registered data: Exploratory option. Layers that are sourced from a web feature layer retain the settings of that web layer. Any layers sourced from an enterprise geodatabase are shared as noneditable map image layers.

4. Optionally, share the Areas or IndoorsConfig tables to your portal by right-clicking each table and choosing Sharing > Share As Table.
5. Fill in the parameters and click Publish.
6. If you shared the Areas or IndoorsConfig tables, add the tables to the web map.

Share a web map containing feature layers

To share a web map that contains feature layers to your ArcGIS organization on Enterprise, complete the following steps:

1. Ensure that you're connected to your ArcGIS organization in ArcGIS Pro.
2. Follow the steps to share a web map containing feature layers.

Tip:

For Select a Configuration, choose the Copy all data: Exploratory option.

If you require layers to be editable, such as the Reservations layer, first share them separately using the Copy all data: Editable option to create a web feature layer. Then add the web feature layers to the map and share it using the Copy all data: Exploratory option. Layers that are sourced from a web feature layer retain the settings of that web layer. Layers sourced from an or enterprise geodatabase are shared as noneditable map image layers.

Share a web scene

You can share a floor-aware web scene to an ArcGIS organization for use in Indoor Viewer.

Publish the web scene from ArcGIS Pro

There are additional requirements for web scene sharing to be successful.

You can share a web scene to your ArcGIS organization as a scene service. There are a few differences in the experience from sharing web maps. When you click the Content tab in the Share Web Scene pane, a list of web layers that will be shared with your organization to support the scene service is shown. To make the web scene layers editable, share them with associated feature layers.

Tip:

Use the Analyze command to find and fix inconsistencies and potential problems before the map or scene is shared to ensure successful publishing.

Update the scene in Scene Viewer

Once you have shared a scene from ArcGIS Pro you can open it in Scene Viewer from your ArcGIS organization. In Scene Viewer, you can further configure the scene. Some possible configurations include the following:

• Add a cartographic offset to layers. For example, adding a cartographic offset to the Units 3D layer can keep the Units 3D and levels layers from obscuring vision of features in the map.
• Add a visibility range. For example, you may only want users to view certain layers when they are zoomed in to a facility but not when they are zoomed out and viewing multiple facilities within the scene.

Confirm the web map or scene was shared

If you shared a web map, either map image layers or feature layers support it, depending on the option you chose in the Share pane.

If you shared a web scene, you can add it to the Indoor Viewer web app using its ID or by choosing the web scene in the interactive Indoor Viewer web app template configuration.

You can sign in to the same ArcGIS organization that was used to share the web map or scene and verify that they operate correctly in Map Viewer or Scene Viewer.

In addition, you can set the accessibility of the map or scene to other members or groups in your organization. In your ArcGIS organization on Enterprise, you can share the services the app uses with everyone who needs to use the app.

Note:

• If the services are not shared with everyone, the app prompts users to sign in with their ArcGIS organization credentials. Users cannot use the app until they sign in.
• If the services are shared with everyone, anyone can use the app without signing in.
