Share a web map for use in Space Planner

Available for an ArcGIS organization licensed with the Indoors extension.

Indoor Space Planner allows you to assign occupants to individual spaces or activity-based work areas and define these work areas for hot desks or office hotels.

Sharing a Space Planner web map to Enterprise requires setting up branch versioning in your Enterprise geodatabase and enabling version management for the editable web layers when publishing. This is required by the Space Planner app to support space plan management.

Note:

To host app services on an Enterprise portal, ArcGIS Indoors requires ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8.1 or later. Check with your system administrator to ensure your ArcGIS Enterprise installation is fully configured and free from issues before sharing.

Share a Space Planner web map to Enterprise

Sharing a Space Planner web map to an Enterprise portal is a multistep process. You must have two Space Planner maps prepared in ArcGIS Pro: one with branch versioned datasets and the other with the base datasets. You'll share the content of these maps in ArcGIS Pro, then combine them into a single map the portal web map viewer.

Prerequisites

To use the Reference registered data option to share your Space Planner versioned feature layer, you must register the data store with your ArcGIS Enterprise portal’s federated servers. To create a data store for your geodatabase on your portal, register the data store before publishing using the Manage registered data stores pane.

Note:

If you don't register your geodatabase as a data store on your Enterprise portal, an analyze error message appears when you share the layers as referenced data. Click the error message on the analyzer to register the data store.

Share a Space Planner versioned feature layer

The sharing process for versioned data is the same as for any web layer except you must enable the version management capability for the feature layer.

  1. Open the Space Planner versioned feature layers map in ArcGIS Pro.
  2. Click the Share tab.
  3. In the Share As group, click the Web Layer drop-down arrow and choose Publish Web Layer.

The Share As Web Layer pane appears.

  4. Complete the following steps to use the Share As Web Layer pane to share your Space Planner versioned feature layers to your Enterprise portal.
    1. Click the Configuration tab in the Share As Web Layer pane.
    2. In the Capabilities section, check the Version Management check box.

This is required for the feature layer to participate in versioning workflows.

      Note:

If this option is not available in the Capabilities list, the source data for the layers might not be registered as versioned, or might not have branch versioning enabled on the data store connection. You must address this before proceeding.

    3. Click the Configure Pooling button Configure Pooling near the top of the pane.
    4. In the Instance Type section, choose Dedicated Instance.
      Note:

Shared instance pools don't support version management.

    5. Click Publish.

Share a Space Planner base data web map

When sharing a Space Planner base data map, there are several options on the Share tab. By default, the map is shared as a web map with map image layers. Map image layer web maps are supported, but it is recommended that you share a feature layer based web map for use in Space Planner. This makes combining your Space Planner versioned feature layer with your Space Planner base data web map much easier, and allows you to set the layers' draw order in the Space Planner map's table of contents.

Share a Space Planner base data web map containing feature layers

To share a Space Planner base data web map that contains feature layers, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your Enterprise portal in ArcGIS Pro.
  2. Open the Space Planner base data map.
  3. Share the Space Planner base data map to your portal.
    Note:

For Select a Configuration, ensure that the Copy all data: Exploratory option is chosen.

Share a Space Planner base data web map containing map image layers

Complete the following steps to share a Space Planner base data web map that contains map image layers:

  1. Sign in to your Enterprise portal in ArcGIS Pro.
  2. Open the Space Planner base data map.
  3. If your map contains a range slider, disable it.
  4. Share your Space Planner base data map to your portal.
    Tip:

For Select a Configuration, ensure that the Reference Registered Data: Exploratory option is chosen.

Note:

Map image layer based web maps provide support for symbology scales, advanced cartography, and performance and scalability. If you share a Space Planner base data web map with map image layers, the Space Planner versioned feature layers will always have to be positioned above the base data map image layers in the table of contents of your Space Planner web map. There is no way to move layers between them in the table of contents. To get more precise control over the drawing order of the Space Planner web map's contents, share the Space Planner base data web map as a feature layer based web map instead of a map image layer based web map. It is recommended that you use feature layer based web maps with Space Planner on your Enterprise portal unless map image layer web maps are absolutely necessary.

Combine layers in Enterprise

Follow the steps in your Enterprise portal to add the Space Planner versioned feature layer to your Space Planner base data web map and complete your Space Planner web map configuration.

Confirm the Space Planner web map was shared

After the sharing process is completed in ArcGIS Pro, you can click the link to Manage a web map in the Share As Web Map pane, or sign in to your ArcGIS organization to verify that the web map or versioned feature layers were shared correctly. Additionally, on Enterprise, you need to combine the Space Planner versioned feature layer and Space Planner base data web map into a new Space Planner web map.
