Add metrics

Add metrics to initiatives and projects to show progress or track other measurable aspects. Editors can manage metrics and see all metrics in the workspace, regardless of visibility. You can add up to 24 and feature up to four metrics for visitors to see on the primary overview pane (of the initiative or project view. More metrics can be made visible, to appear in a separate pane on initiative or project view.

Note:

While editors can control which metrics appear on the view and which are only visible in the workspace, metrics will match the sharing level of the initiative or project (hidden metrics may still be accessible in API calls).

To add a metric, complete the following steps:

  1. On the initiative or project view, select the Manage button manage to go to the workspace.
  2. Select the Metrics pane to edit, show or hide existing metrics or select metrics to feature on the overview.
  3. Select Add metric to add a new metric; provide a title and for Type, select Dynamic or Static.
  4. For Dynamic sources, choose Select content, select a dataset, and choose Add. Select Layer / table and for Attribute, choose a field from the dataset.
  5. For Aggregation, choose the type of operation to perform on the selected field.
    • For text and date fields, choose count, minimum, or maximum.
    • For number fields, choose count, minimum, maximum, sum, average, standard deviation, or variance.
  6. To add an additional (optional) filter, turn on Attribute filter; select Add filter and choose an attribute, filter type, and values (will vary depending on field type).
  7. For Static sources, select the Type of value and enter a Value.
    • Select Number if the value only includes numeric values or decimal points (thousands separators are automatically applied).
    • Select Text for all other values.
  8. Enter the units to show and choose their placement.
  9. For Dynamic sources, enter Trailing text, if needed. If you turn on Display source link, a link will appear on the live site that goes to the dataset’s item details page.
  10. For Static sources, enter Trailing text, Link URL and text, if needed.
  11. Select Save.
