Configure the Participatory Budgeting site
The Participatory Budgeting solution includes the Participatory Budgeting ArcGIS Hub site, which your organization can configure with your own branding and use to share important budgeting and planning information with the public.
After deploying the Participatory Budgeting solution, the Participatory Budgeting site layout only requires a few updates to fit your local context. Follow the steps below to update the site with your organization's needs:
- Sign in to your ArcGIS organization and browse to the Participatory Budgeting site.
- Open the item page and click Configure App.
- Click the edit button to open the site editor.
- Scroll to the Statistics section under the title of the website. The Community Ideas statistics card is already linked to the Participatory Budgeting solution’s PublicProjectIdeas_public feature layer. This statistic automatically updates as you load data into your solution.
The Available Budget and Ideas Funded statistics are provided in a text card but styled to resemble the Community Ideas statistics card; this allows you the option to manually enter a statistic of your choice, independent of data. Update the Available Budget and Ideas Funded statistics cards using a metric of your choice, or replace the text card with a Summary Statistics card and use the PublicProjectIdeas_public feature layer view as its data source, similar to the other statistics cards.
- Update the Available Budget and Ideas Funded cards by hovering over one of the cards and clicking the edit pencil , and then update the text. To add a Summary Statistics card to the existing row, see the Display key metrics section in the Insert charts, tables, and metrics topic. Once the card has been added to the row, hover over the replaced card and click the delete button .
- Scroll to the Meet the Participatory Budgeting Committee section, hover over the card, and click the edit pencil on the horizontal toolbar.
- To update the image, click </> Edit in HTML and replace the existing URL with the URL of your image, and edit the photo names in the card.
- Click Apply.
- Scroll to the Frequently Asked Questions section, hover over the card and click the edit pencil, and update the questions and answers.
- On the side panel, click Footer.
A custom footer is already provided, and in most cases, it needs to be updated with your organization's branding, contact information, and social media references.
- Click the HTML text box.
The HTML window appears.
- Make the necessary changes and click Apply.
- Click Save.
Share items with the public
Several layer views, maps and apps included in the Participatory Budgeting solution must be shared with everyone so they can be accessed by the public on the Participatory Budgeting site. To share your participatory budgeting items with everyone, use the guide below and complete the following steps:
- Verify that you are signed in to your ArcGIS organization and browse to the Participatory Budgeting folder.
- Check the check box next to each of the items below:

- Click Share.
- In the Share window, click Everyone (public) and click Save.
The Warning: Sharing editable layers publicly message appears notifying you that you are sharing editable layers publicly.
- Click Update.
