You can share any scene you make or that is created by others by sending an email with a link, posting it to your Facebook, X, or LinkedIn account, embedding it in a website or blog, or creating an app from the scene.
Share a scene
To share a scene, complete the following steps:
- Click
Share
.
- Click the Share tab.
Do any of the following:
- Click Copy
to copy the URL and paste it into a blog or website address.
- Check the Short link check box to generate a short URL to link to the scene.
- Check the Start at slide check box to type in the slide number at which the scene opens.
- Check the Open in presentation mode check box for the scene to open in presentation mode.
- Click the email, Facebook, X, or LinkedIn buttons to share it over social media.
- Click Copy
When you share a scene, the scene will share the layer settings and basemap of the scene when it was saved last and the camera position before you clicked Share . When you select the Start at slide check box, the camera position is determined by the slide. This allows you to share and embed scenes that open at specific locations. For example, if you have a city scene displaying zoning, you can share a link that opens to that location with the same layer settings and camera position.
Note:
You may not see all the sharing options, depending on how your administrator has configured your site, or if you do not have privileges to share content. For example, you only see the Facebook, X, and LinkedIn options if you are allowed to share outside the organization.
Embed a scene
To embed a public scene you've opened in Scene Viewer, copy the ready-to-use HTML code and paste it into your website. You can configure the embedded view of the scene before copying the code, choose the size of the scene, and select scene options.
To embed a scene, complete the following steps:
- Open a saved scene in Scene Viewer and click Share
.
- Click the Embed tab.
- Select and copy the HTML code that's provided.
If the Short link check box is checked, then the short link will be used in the HTML code.
- Paste the code into your web page where you want the scene to appear.
The scene is embedded.
Considerations for sharing scenes
Keep the following in mind when sharing scenes:
- Scene Viewer will warn you if your scene or any of the layers in the scene are not shared with the public. If you want your scene to be accessible to the public, you must share the layers and scene with everyone.
- Most ArcGIS Living Atlas layers are free to use in your scenes and can be viewed by anyone. However, some of the layers require an organizational account to view and, in some cases, consume credits and require privileges. These layers are identified in the item details.
- To share a scene publicly that contains subscriber content or premium content, you can create a scene-based app and configure it to allow access to the content through your organizational subscription. (Your subscription will incur any credit costs.)
- If your organization does not allow anonymous access, share the public URL to the scene (https://www.arcgis.com/home/webscene/viewer.html?webscene=<scene_id>) rather than the URL that includes your organization name (https://<organization_name>/home/webscene/viewer.html?webscene=<scene_id>).
