Installation
When you uninstall Monitor, some folders and files remain on the hard drive. These are for your convenience if you reinstall or upgrade the product. If you don't plan to reinstall, you can delete these files.
You may notice persisting files located at /var/lib/<ArcGIS Monitor account username>/confi-store-<server or agent>/.
Leaving this folder preserves the properties, logs, and supporting files that you may want to keep if you reinstall.
If you receive a message about an expired license, contact Esri Technical Support to obtain a new license and reauthorize ArcGIS Monitor.
Once the license has been updated, you must restart the arcgis-monitor-server service using the following command for the changes to take effect:
- Ubuntu: sudo service arcgis-monitor-server start
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server: sudo systemctl start arcgis-monitor-server
Administration
Monitor can be deployed in an environment where there is no internet connection or internet access is prohibited by your organization. Monitor does require network access to register and communicate with monitored components such as ArcGIS software, databases, and your underlying hardware infrastructure. In most cases, only intranet access is required. If your enterprise GIS implementation is distributed across multiple network environments, internet access may be required to allow communication between Monitor Server and Monitor Agent machines.
Yes. ArcGIS Monitor Server automatically detects a machine name change, but you must restart the arcgis-monitor-server service using the following command:
- Ubuntu: sudo service arcgis-monitor-server start
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server: sudo systemctl start arcgis-monitor-server
Depending on your site deployment, you may need to perform additional steps to ensure proper configuration of the new machine name:
- If you enabled HTTPS for your site and your certificate was using the previous machine name, you must generate a new certificate and configure your site to use it.
- You may need to disconnect Monitor Agent machines from Monitor Server and register them again with Monitor Server as existing Monitor Agent machines.
I receive a database disconnected error when I try to register the Monitor database or when I try to access Monitor.
Check the following:
- Check the database machine or instance and ensure that it is online and available.
- If the Monitor database is not on the same machine as Monitor Server, ensure that the database has been configured to allow remote clients to connect to it.
- Check your firewall rules to ensure that Monitor Server can access the database machine or instance.
- Check the database credentials are ensure that they are valid.
