What's new in ArcGIS Monitor

The 2024.0 release of ArcGIS Monitor includes the following new features, enhancements, and improvements:

  • In previous releases of Monitor, ArcGIS Monitor Server and ArcGIS Monitor Agent were both capable of collecting data from monitored components. In the 2024.0 release of Monitor, this capability is only available for Monitor Agent. This new monitoring architecture is designed to simplify access and permission requirements and in most cases requires an installation of Monitor Agent on each host machine that contains components that you want to monitor.

  • Monitor Server and Monitor Agent include command line parameters to allow machines with no display set (headless) to be configured.
  • Monitor Agent automatically discovers supported components on the machine where it is installed and makes them available for registration.
  • Monitor includes improved support for monitoring multi-machine ArcGIS Server sites and highly-available Portal for ArcGIS deployments.
  • The Discover observer has been renamed Inventory.
  • Dataviews are expressions for analysis view charts and indicators that are reusable and can be accessed on the Analysis page on the Dataviews tab.
    Note:

Analysis view expressions are automatically converted to dataviews when Monitor Server is upgraded to 2024.0.

  • Analysis view indicators and charts include a dataview query filter that allows you to filter the data returned by the dataview.
  • The following are new sample analysis views included with Monitor:
    • Sample Analysis: ArcGIS—Shows key performance indicators for ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Enterprise portal components.
    • Sample Analysis: Infrastructure—Shows key performance indicators for host components that participate in an enterprise GIS deployment.
  • The agent_id field was removed from the Metrics, Components, and Observers tables in the ArcGIS Monitor Information Model and replaced with a many-to-many relationship between agents and components.
    Note:

If you used the agent_id field in expressions for analysis view elements in a previous release of Monitor, you must update the element's dataview to scope the data to a specific agent.

  • In previous releases Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) resources were categorized as host components. At the 2024.0 release, they are categorized as their own unique component type with a unique set of metrics.
  • Metric data can be compared for components of the same type.
